Haha, thats awesome. My neighbors were probably thinking "wtf is wrong with this kid?" ---Me "Im trying to make more blue lights" Thanks for the heads up, I didn't get any manuals in the boxes on either amp, looked them up online just to get a quick over view and must have missed that section. Any logic you can think of why they got rid of the meters? I like it this way better actually, less distractions when watching a movie. PS: They sound great. This has made a huge improvement to my phantom center, dialog is much more coherent. My supercube arrived today, but wont be hooked up until after the weekend, but I am already loving this improvement. And thank you for the heads up on the LEDs. The metered LEDs were never removed, per se, from the UPA-1's, they just aren't part of the design. The little touches like meters are generally reserved for the higher end amps in the XPA/XPR line. For example, my XPA-5 just has 5 blue dots. I also agree that the UPA-1's provide a very noticeable sonic improvement.

None of the UPA series amps have meters, and only the XPA-1 and XPA-2 in the X series do.

Powere meters are worthless.......they never give you the correct voltage in real time, and its just another thing to add to the cost, potentially add noise or break.

When the music gets loud more light up and when the music isn't loud only one is lit up so I think it works.

Just another item to break.

Why do you choose to drive a car of a particular color? Is the paint color "useful" to how the car operates? No, but it certainly helps make one car more appealing than another. Don't be so rigid that "your way" is the "only way."

Easy now....i hear both sides of the story, I dont think Ntrain was pushing his opinion just stating that it can provide a false sense of performance. Either way, I love my new amps and just added a deftech supercube II, which is set to 1-2 and is still shaking the heck out of my theater area. Its amazing how much better the sound is with a little low end reinforcement.

Sorry to necro this thread but I'm in the same dilemma now and I just got an XPA-5 for my 7.1 system and was planning on running side surrounds via the AVR and now I'm thinking if i should get UPA-1 pair or XPA-2 for my JTR triple-8 Left and Right Speakers
