But they need another BD licence from Sony! ...Sony owns the entire goddamn world! ;D Are'nt there way around the licence thing a loop hole ? Like buying a bunch of Oppo guts, and building a player around it? I think that's how Lexicon, and Ayre did there players? Djoel

^^^ Allan I keep hearing/ reading great things about that machine, and it's a shame Sony decided discontinue them according to some circles. I'm suppose to be getting an Oppo this coming March, and would love to compare both units if I can get my hands on one. Congrats on your sacd player Dan Thanks, Dan. The SRV SACD has gone to a loving home, as you can see... I believe Sony did shut down production on this player, but this is not official as of this writing. I have a friend who works for Sony overseas (although not in the audio part) but he did tell me that Sony wanted to make a real top notch player and did not care so much about the retail versus the cost because the production was going to be so low. They were more interested in getting people's attention with a very fine player for a relatively reasonable price. I cannot confirm this theory production strategy but I do know the press has been all over this player. Also, if anyone can absorb to not make much profit on a SACD player, I would think Sony is in the best position to do so. The CD playback is surreal. I have heard the Ayre CD player and at that time I thought that was the finest I had ever heard. This Sony 5400 player is at least as good as that. Although I adore my Mirage M3-si, I wonder if I can take the experience to another level with different speakers. Only time will tell. And money, of course. ;D Would love to hear your thoughts on the Oppo 95 (if that's the one you're getting). take care Glad you really enjoying the SRV, which makes me that the more happy. Your endorsement of the XA5400ES makes me want to run out a get one, but cash makes that a bit impossible Oh well, maybe mid year. Happy listening Dan

Hey Matt
A bit off topic here, as the above is a bit foreing to me but would love to learn the essentials.
Hope the 3311 is doing you fine and bring lots to the table, hopefully I'll get to talk to you while you're at Bill's in the next few weeks. I would love here your opinion/ advice about music storing heck even movie burning, where to start, software and what's the easiest boob way for a tech challenge guy like me. I've been looking for the best way to store my media for some time, I have read a few thread, but I never seem to find one where they list the right hardware in a chronological order.
I'll be following this thread with great interest, being that you have list a few items, from a piratical website with reviews, and ratings.
Thanks
Dan

I own the Def tech Mythos ST, and was really happy with the sound stage and the bass coming out of these speakers, but was terribly disappointed when listening to dedicate 2 music . The tweeter was what would get to me, it was a bit irritating at long listening sessions. Ran out and got a pair Dali Helicon MK1 and immediately knew what I wanted from the Mythos. Now that the Triton 2 has a ribbon tweeter that might just make a difference. Would not mind getting a listen to see if it cleared that hurdle.
Just my two cents
Dan

I am looking forward to see what the nxe version for the 83 is about. This may be cheaper than buying a 95. I already have my 83 modified for all region. That will be definitely a sick Mod for the 83ES, for those holding on to theirs or purchased a use one at decent price..Win win. Djoel

When have you ever heard of an electronics manufacturer "announce" they are discontinuing something? They want you to keep buying so they might deplete their inventory so they rarely say a word..... Its usually a dead giveaway though when the deep discounting starts. That most of the time means they want out from under..... You have heard of closeout sales haven't you? Isn't there one going on disguised as a holiday sale

Im not surprised at all. Its just your basic marketing 101. Those products have run their course and now its time to reinvent everything all over again. EMO has retired a lot of gear over the years - consider it planned obsolescence. Just like other manufacturers of all sorts of items from cameras, to computers to cars, they need to reason for you to re up and buy everything all over again.... Look for Emo receivers - and amps of the the class H topology and/or class D. Not sure which they will trot out first but they are a comin.... Oh, and a neat modular speaker design.......... I agreed as well, not surprised at all, specially after getting the current emails I've received from Emotiva, and hinting at the the inevitable On that note would love to have a pair of XPA-1's, and at the price they're selling they are quite the bargain. Yeah, he used to be a Lounge member. I'm not sure if he's still around anymore, but he has some very nice gear, and for him to say those things about the UMC speaks volumes about it's SQ. I've always heard that sq of the UMC is second to none, and compared to other much higher cost component it bets the pant of those. It has always piqued my curiosity, and has tempted me to buy one many of times. Now what has many in a frenzy is the lack of consistency which can become highly frustrating. Take the latter out of the equation and I'm sure Emotiva would have had a real winner in their hands, and plenty of happy people. I really hope, the next incarnation of the UMC can drop more jaws the second time around. Just my two cents Djoel

I love you man, that's the flick..The Lives Of Other, the thing I can't understand now is where heck did I see this awesome movie..I checked and checked my Block Buster history with out much luck, but I gotta say it's great movie, again if you have a flare to these types of movie, and don't mind things not exploding ever 15 minutes or so..Well there's nothing wrong with that either, this is just a tad quiter.

That German film you just mentioned about Dan, is not this one? It's was actually filmed in Germany I believe, it about west Germany, and some surveillance is going on some poor family or something. They're trying to escape, or something, but the gov has some heavy bugging on them. I'm having a brain freeze as I can't recall some of the important details. I'll find it though.. Dan

Of course I luv Foreign flicks! ...I'm a Frenchman after all, and I studied Cinema at school. And I worked as a projectionist long time ago. And I also worked in a major Hall Theater as an Audio/Video technical assistant. I've met with some of the most prodigious International artists. ...I even made a film too! And I acted too as in real acting in Theater. * But I did not see the movie titles you just mentioned in your above post, helas! ** Same for me Dan, I luv flicks that deal with real human experiences and the choices that we are sometimes faced with. ...Real Life! Look at most films nowadays: they are all about fictions, and things that does not exist! They are about big Kadaboum, and special effects for the senses, but not the real human heart and soul. Because it's a world about money and people stupidity that we live in! And I'm guilty as well! ...But my heart is honest and I don't get much from them on that aspect! It does not make me advancing in my life! Just ephemeral flashes! Nothing concrete at all! No value whatsoever! Pure adrenaline for the senses, no more! Real Cinema Art is about real emotions! And pure Poetry! This is a dying Art! The Art now is MONEY! Computer generated fictions! Pick your side, and grow with it! ...See if you can get more involved than this with real life and real people! ...A human tragedy, it is! Hey, I got two big 15" subs with state-of-the-art Audio/Video technologies; let's get rumble! ;D ...Ya right, my ears and eyes got a real treat! But nothing where it counts the most; in the smart mind, in the emotions of the heart, and the real food of the deep soul! I rest my case for today! You sound like a well rounded person, as far as they don't make them like they use to is very true..But, they are still some great and awesome tear jerking films out there. I'm glad they're folks who still have the passion to make such films. I just wish I had the time, to get my hand on such great film, but thanks to such sites like this, I can ask questions if I have doubts on what I'll be spending my time on, you know you can't get those 2 to 3 hours back once the cridits are scrolling up ;D They're was this other film that I've seen close by when I watched I've love you so long that was excellent as well. It's a German film something about taping someone else conversation..I tried to look for the title on my Block Buster history but I can't seem to find it. Elegy is a great film as well, Penelope Cruz and Sir Ben Kingsley. And if you want some high octane system bumping film heck out Secuestro Express Crazy... DJoel
