So I just bought A new pair of AKG K240's and must say it sounds great plugged into my computer. On the other end plugging it into the USP-1's headphone jack produces nothing I was expecting. I was introduced to a weak and flat sound that I didn't even get through my iPhone, big disappointment. In fact I had to turn the pre up almost full blast to get the volume achieved out of my iphone lol. I even noticed that I had to turn my amp off by hand because it came on with the trigger and bled music through my bookshelf's. Now you can say the preamp is not a true headphone amp, but these headphones are efficient enough to be played through computers and ipods. Still enjoy my pre just disappointed.
See below for results, human error

How long have you had your USP-1? I know the first run of them did have some issues with the headphone section. Emo was taking care of it on older models for customers and have since made the change at the factory for the new units I believe. If you have had it for a while, I would give them a call and they will get you taken care of.

I got it Dec. 09, so it is only about 4 months old.

You should call Emotiva Tech Support. I am not at all familiar with your particular cans, but my USP-1 has no trouble driving Grado SR225 or Senn 580 or Senn 600. I know the Grado cans are easy to drive, but the Senn 580/600 are known to be difficult loads. If your AKG K240 is easily driven by your portables there is definitely a problem that the USP-1 is having trouble. It sounds like you have a defect or loose connection somewhere.
Do you own another set of headphones? Did you see if they have the same problem. Do the AKG's come with a 3.5mm jack or a 1/4 inch jack? Do you need to use an adaptor to connect to the USP-1? Maybe you have a faulty adaptor. My USP-1 can drive the Sennheisers to uncomfotably loud levels. Hello, Emotiva...

This is my first set of higher end headphones so no other pair to test with. They do require an adapter that is a screw on 1/4 adapter, I will try it with my other 2 receivers tomorrow and see how that goes but looking at the adapter I would have trouble believing this to be the issue but will update results later.

Well, I guess I over reacted about the entire post. My apologies EMO, I got up bothered by the subject and found another 1/4 adapter I had in the closet and did some listening. I noticed a horrible error on my part, I was listening through the USP-1 source computer and noticed the volume was about 50 percent on itunes. I cranked that up and ta da music. That does not answer the bleeding part but at least I can safely say I was wrong.
Sorry Emo for the negative post.
Suggestions - should I delete this thread or let it ride into mistaken history?
