Dan / Lonnie, Given the known issues with firmware version v6 can we get a bug-fix release this week?

Dan / Lonnie, Given the known issues with firmware version v6 can we get a bug-fix release this week? Given that Lonnie feels in retrospect that he gave in and rushed V6 out the door without further testing, one week might be a bit optimistic? It depends if they go for single targeted fixes this time rather than trying to get all the fixes done at once. For me if they could get the audio dropout issue and PL II issue done, I could be a really happy camper again. I think it would be best if we give the folks at Emotiva the time and space to get it right and not put further pressure on by demanding an artificial deadline. I believe these problems will get fixed and eventually this will all become a distant memory. Even with the the audio dropouts, I can limp along for a while and will be patient. -CB

My guess is no. I wouldn't expect to see something for at least a month.
Why fix the firmware if you can't be sure it gets installed correctly?
Also from "v5" to "v6" it was about a month or so and a lot of stuff didn't get fixed and new stuff was broken. Stuff I would consider simple (turning the unit off when I hit the off button...) wasn't even fixed.

Lonnie had stated that the release could have used more extensive testing. Given that v6 is very recent, even if known issues are resolved, there would not be sufficient testing/QA time to get it this week. Just my 2¢.

I've patiently waited this long...I'll wait a while longer if it gets me closer to a stable and working system. :-)

No need to pile on this new forum denizen. As a matter of fact, they should be able to correct the base value issue for PLIIx fairly quickly, so why not a new FW soon? I think we all see the folly in huge code changing updates, maybe a bunch of smaller ones makes sense given the track record.

A bug fix version with minimal changes (and testing) could be provided as an "alpha" version of code for early adopters only. If it went well it would buy Emotiva more time to work on a subsequent release while users continue to find other issues in the v6 code. Perhaps a small group of willing individuals can sign up to be "alpha testers" before firmware is generally released. Let me be the first to volunteer.

What I would like to see is them release a way to revert completely back to Version 5.....I had far less problems but since it is only 2 files versus 3 the PLIIx problems still occur. I am cool on waiting for a new version to come out just let me revert backwards. PLEASE!!!

Considering how difficult it appears to be to load a proper working firmware update, I'd rather not have to do this too often.

I think we all see the folly in huge code changing updates, maybe a bunch of smaller ones makes sense given the track record. Seeing as how each FW update requires a reset of users settings it seems to me that the less often I have to install a FW update, the better. If the update did not require this reset I would be all for incremental updates. Thomas

I, for one, wouldn't mind updating every couple of days to help test firmware before public release. I'm sure there are at least several of us.

Yeah, it only takes a couple of minutes to redo the settings. One thing I would like to see is the default state for inputs be "invisible" rather than "visible" except maybe for the first 4 or 5.

Maybe put the currently selected input to the top of the list, at least for the most common ones like the HDMI inputs they should be on the top of the selection.
Wish the power light could be dimmed too or even just set to off like the rest of the lights.
Scaling of the setup screens to optionally be larger like in 480/576 sizes to see more easily when setting up.
Only had my UMC-1 a few hours so thats all I have noticed so far.

Kudos to Emotiva for getting a patch release out so quickly.
