Wish they would offer one for the USP-1, it doesn't need to be free, I hate the flimsy POS remote that it came with. +1 at least for me

That's a cool remote. I notice discrete input selection buttons! Suppose that could be a hint of added feature in a future firmware... Discrete source codes are already in there - I have them on my Harmony.

I'd like to take the occasion of this most thoughtful gesture on the part of the folks at Emotiva to suggest to any who felt that my harsh critique of the Leggo remote that originally came with our UMC-1's had missed the point that the UMC-1 didn't need a sophisticated remote because all serious A/V enthusiasts would buy a universal remote anyway, that they should consider donating their obviously superfluous new Emotiva remote immediately upon receipt to the charity of their choice. ;D

Don't think for a second that I wouldn't like to have this "made of pure awesome" UMC-R remote as another goto method of control in the theater. My point is I grab whatever is close, especially for volume. Most of the time this is the iPad, but sometimes it's the DVDO Edge remote or diNovo Mini keyboard--or will now be the UMC-R! Thanks again Emotiva! It's a very nice gesture to send them out and I'm glad to see such a nice component now has a sweet remote to go along with it.

We still wonder, if existing users will receive a special offer for the remote too?

the way I heard from the podcast is that everyone who has already purchased a UMC would be getting the new remote. maybe I heard wrong but that's what I am thinking.

It is really an incentive to get the UMC-1 before end of June. But what if the bugs are not all been addressed by then? This is improtant for me since I am in Hong Kong. Firmware update by users can be a tricky thing, different OS, hardware, and even luck sometimes. Maybe paying deposit/full amount upfront before end of June but wait for the dust be settled before shipping out is a viable workout for overseas customers,

Yeah....and I hope they didn't design it around BATTERIES. The least they could do is use hydrogen fuel cells. Batteries make the entire line seem sooooo cheap. R

That is my reading of what Emotiva said during the podcast also. It seemed very clear to me that their intention was to offer ALL UMC-1 purchasers, to-date, a "peace offering" to express their gratitude to us for having endured the FW growing pains. This is just Emotiva's way of thanking all of us for our loyalty and patience during the rocky introduction -- just another indication of Emotiva's dedication to its customer base.

Will it control my other 10 devices? Meh. Looks nice. So do actresses, but I'm not living with any, so....

Is this the remote that will go to USP-1, and UMC-1 owners? I just got my second UMC-1 after sending back the first one that didn't work and the UMC remote doesn't work again. Same issue I had with the first one. The USP remote does work on the UMC though. Really irritating. Please fill USP/UMC people on the latest with the remote issue.

Will the new remote have different codes so the conflict between the two components no longer clash. I thought something was mentioned a while ago about sending a FW upgrade with the new remote to address the clash. Can anyone clarify this?

Anybody who is still unclear on who gets what in the remote department should listen to the podcast for themselves. I listened to it this morning and there is no question in my mind; I'll be seeing a "real" remote in a few weeks.
