Well I think I have decided on an amp, the NAD M25 sounds simply awesome to me. I also like that it has seven channels in one box, therefore taking up less space than mono-blocks with another amp to run the surrounds. In time I will add the T-175 pro but for now I'll use my receiver. Another factor was that I can buy it locally and if there's any problems it's easier to get serviced. I will be able to buy it at the end of July and have been given a good price on it. So thanks for the help.

So I never did end up buying the Nad M25, I ended up with the Anthem MCA 50. The problem I'm having now is that I don't think my AVR is giving the amp enough voltage to run at full power. I've noticed that Emo amps have a higher gain structure than most power amps, is this to offset low voltage from AVR's? Are Emo amps easier for AVR's to run?

I know this is a little late, but could still be useful to you if you decide you don't like the Anthem amp.
I bought a pair of Studio 100s V3 two weeks ago to complete by Paradigm 5.1 system. I have the UMC-1 with three UPA-1s for L, R, and C, and a UPA-2 for the surrounds. The UPA-1s make those speakers come alive. I cranked it up to deafening levels, and these amps still have more juice. I also used the amps with my older Marantz SR5600 as a pre-amp when my UMC-1 broke. They sounded just as lively and detailed. The imaging is simply superb.
It's never too late to move to Emo amps. I'm sure you won't be disappointed and will save some money too.

Weird23, yes the 32db gain of the current generation Emotiva amps is rather high and is to offset AVRs that put out a lower voltage. If you are experiencing this problem you could replace either your AVR or your amp. I have the XPA-5 and think it is a great performer for the price.

I bought the Anthem used for about $250 less than the cost of three UPA-1`s shipped to Canada, so there wouldn`t be any savings. I`m planning on going to nine channels so I`ll need another amp, maybe I`ll try an Emo.

Scott Thanks for the reply, I`m planning on getting a processor and going to nine channels so I`ll need another amp. It just might be an Emo.

I prefer the UPA-1s to the MCA-50. My MCA proceeds bought 3 UPA-1s, 1 UPA-5, and one half of an Ultra-12. Of course, I'm just an hour away from the border so I saved hundreds on shipping.

Proactive disclosure: not apples to apples comparison between UPA-1s and MCA-50 since MCA was gone by the time I had the UPA-1s in the new house.
With the last few months of the MCA-50 in the old house, the center channel seemed muddy. When I sold it and replaced it with the UPA-7, the muddiness seemed to go away. Now that was apples to apples (everything was the same except the amps) but not A/B comp.
Bought it new C$2,300, sold it through CAM for C$1,800 (if I remember correctly).
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the MCA-50 compared to the previous receiver-only set tup.
