Greetings EMOTIVA fans and customers! Two weeks ago I finally became an EMOTIVA customer myself with the purchase of a pair of UAW-6.2. The primary purpose is the rear speakers in a home theater. For WAF, the look had to be clean. For me, audio quality was important at a value. With the Salebration going on, who could beat the price, so I took the plunge.
I placed my order prior at about 1100hrs CST. My order shipped at 1330hrs CST. Of course a last minute trip out of the country made delivery more complicated as the order required delivery confirmation via a signature. Wife's quick action and a call to FEDEX had them delivered to her work no problem. Not sure if all orders go through this process, but wow, is this quick. Follow up is also great. Email from EMOTIVA through each step impressed me that much more.
The pair arrived in a well packaged box. Template worked exactly as it should (perhaps a little tight on the corners). I really like that the mounting bracket is separate from the speaker (you initially have to remove the driver from the bracket to install the bracket). This makes placement and adjustment to square an absolute breeze.
My only complaint is the grill removal tool is weak as you do need some force to remove the grills. If you have a tight fit to the bracket due to a tight opening cut, the grills are also difficult to snap back into place. But you can test fit all this prior to installation so minor gripe at best.
As this was the first of the final touches to the HT, I was really eager to break them in with hooking up the whole system. Blow the dust off from my Denon POA-800 and break in begins. I ran music at a decent audible level for a good 12 hours on Saturday and another 12 on Sunday via my IPOD. Monday I whipped out the Panny BD-65 and put in a CD. What a difference from the IPOD. Crisp highs that are not over powering, and a decent mid. Do not expect deep bass or even the deeper mids. Hey it's an inwall. Tied with a Klipsche (pending emo Ultra 12 upgrade I think), the sound is open, clear, rich in detail, much more than I expected from an in wall. Got the projector hooked up and watched a little Deadliest Catch. We have been without our HT for 6 months due to a complete reno and it didn't sound this good with the Monoprice inwalls I had previously. Even wife came down and was even amazed.
XPA 5 or 3 with a ULTRA 12 are next on the list.
