I have tried numerous times, even had my girlfriend and best friend try it. I can't get the UMC-1 to tell me what FM I'm running. I have a metal remote. Also since the only way to get my UMC-1 upgraded is to send it in, would it be worth it to have it upgraded if i haven't had any errors or problems with my current FM? Would there be any improvements with the newest FM??? Thanks in advance

It's "FW" <G> and pressing the key sequence (one after the other) should work - you do have your VFD at some level above off right?

Got my UMC-1 today, and it came with W7.02.00.05.
Sounds good so far. I'm thinking the UPA-5 will open up with some hours on it.
Until my new HDMI TV arrives late this week, I'm still using my Sony KV-40XBR700 (glass, 1080i, 326 pounds) so that means component in + optical in from DishTV receiver, and component out for the display. Does anyone know if the lag when changing channels or inputs goes away with HDMI or at least diminishes itself? Takes between 3 and 4 full seconds for signal acquisition with this setup.
Thanks!

I just got my UMC-1 couple days ago and my FW is 07.04 blah blah, and I confirmed that this is the latest FW for the time being.

New UMC-1 owner and forum member here. "Hello" to all.
I just received the unit a few days ago and would like to check the FW version. As with some of the other posters, the key sequence from the remote (aluminum) doesn't work for me. I also checked out the update instruction video but it didn't indicate that there's a screen with the current FW.
Is there a way to check FW version without using the remote (and short of emailing Emo support)?
Thank you.

No other way that I'm aware other than the remote. Just press "mute" then "status" and "vol +". Don't hold them down, just press each in succession and the firmware version will show up on the front panel.

While its unboxed and receiving power, I have not gone through the set-up. Could this be why I'm not able to verify the firmware edition?

Hitting those 3 keys has no effect on my UMC-1.
Suddenly, my UMC-1 audio goes silent when I pause or skip my DVR. This is extremely annoying. Can someone explain how to fix this problem? thanks, john

Can someone explain how to fix this problem? thanks, john This is a well known issue with the UMC-1 and virtually all DVRs. With any luck, the next firmware update (due at any time now) will fix this issue. Other than waiting, you might try avoiding an HDMI connection from your DVR and connecting it to the UMC-1 via component video (which fully supports the max resolution of hi-def via cable... 1080i) and a coax or optical digital connection for audio. Hope this helps...

No HD stream on anything except HDMI will be allowed. Thanks, Hollywood. you suck!.

KEY #1: MUTE KEY #2: STATUS KEY #3: VOL + (Volume Up) With the milled aluminum remote, this sequence does not work on my UMC-1. Works with the little plastic remote. The Vol + key press on the aluminum remote is the culprit because the sequence will also work if I use the aluminum remote for the first two key presses (mute and status) and then the plastic one for the Vol+. Weird. Once I have updated the firmware, I'll try that again. Thank you. I got the firmware report with my universal remote - not the aluminum emotiva one. Interesting. My UMC-1 is W7.04.00.07

I realize this is an old thread, but due to its name I looked here first.
As of this date (7/7/12) the latest UMC-1 firmware version is: 7.04.00.19
