Hello to all and all,
I am living in Quebec in Canada and I discovered Emotiva products a few weeks ago and I would need advice on choice of amplifiers and speakers for my true home cinema in an open room to my house. The room size in 14 feet from 12 feet with an and she is open from the right. I would like to know if i must choose the UPA series or XPA series. Basicaly i have only an Oppo BR player and a Samsung plasma TV screen.
Thk

I would choose your speakers first and then decide on amplification. I have or had every amp in the XPA series in my setup at one time or another and you really can't go wrong with any of them. That being said, you may be just fine with the UPA series. Those that have heard both lines say the differences are subtle. Do you have any idea what you are getting for speakers? Unless you are getting very low sensitiviy speakers, I think the UPA line may be enough for a room that size. How loud you listen may influence the decision as well. How big is the space that it opens to on the right side? As I and many others have said before, you will most likely be happy no matter which Emotiva amp you choose.

+1. As long as you end up with relatively efficient speakers (say, ~90dB or higher), a UPA amp will provide enough power to drive those speakers cleanly and to very loud volumes. My UPA-5 powers my Paradigm Studio-series main (L+R) and center speakers and my Paradigm Monitor-series (side) surrounds ( photos) very effectively in my ~15' (w) x 30' (l) x 7.5' (h) basement HT room. It's an excellent amplifier at an excellent price. Bonne chance avec ton achat!

I concur that the speakers are the most critical choice and you should settle on those first. I bought the UPA series amplifier for two reasons: 1- the power of the UPA-5 is more than sufficient to power my Paradigm system and 2- the signal to noise ratio of the UPA series is significantly higher than the XPA. Don't get me wrong, the XPA is really quiet, the UPA just happens to be ultra quiet and that is what I based my decision on. With the UPA-5 I have what I would consider more than enough power to drive the system to extremely high volume while still remaining clean, accurate and dynamic.
You got any speakers in mind?

Guys, Thank for your help. I know that my room is not very big but i was looking for Aperion speakers or Emotiva too. But i have never listen them. I have listen from a friend of mine, a Axiom HT system but i do not like them. Is it better a 5.1 or a 7.1 for my room ? And I like listen to music and watch films that's why i want to have a 2 channels with 3 channels amps or 2 channels with 5 channels amps.
