X2 I was shopping for a DAC in march when i saw that Emotiva was making one. Each time i told myself : "ok, stop waiting and buy one", a new hope for a date or specs where release here. First it thaught it was released in may, after it went to september, now we're in october with no sign of preorder, that means we're lucky if Santa drop one under the tree this Xmas. Maybe it's worth the wait, but if all this was clear, i would have a DAC (as good because it was not compare to anything ) since march. It's like a carrot in front of a horse, you say to yourself:" i'm gonna wait, it's comming soon" wait again, it's coming soon i feel it, wait again, etc.. It suck's to wait. but like everybody else, i cant feel it, it's close, so i'm gonna wait. And I know its been covered extensively but I would have a UMC in my cabinet right now if it weren't for the delays and firmware issues. At the same time, I'm waiting on the XMC and will buy one and will also buy the XDA (if... when....), because I know that emotiva is worth the wait. I just fear that Emotiva will become synonymous with delays and software issues and not the high quality stuff that we know, to the new customers who haven't had the pleasure of ownership. Maybe with the roll out of the pro-line things will be different but at this point I have no reason to be optimistic. I can see exactly what you mean, and definitely understand your points. Having said that, I also can understand what you call a knee jerk response by another poster. This is why many here tend to point out that you have options. I know if I need something now, I give Emotiva a call and ask. I needed/wanted a new blu-ray player back in July/August, was willing to wait to see if something would be announced at EmoFest. I gave Emotiva a call before EmoFest and talked with Lonnie, he told me the situation and I then decided to buy an Oppo BDP-83. I wanted that Emotiva blu-ray player that would go with the rest of my Emotiva equipment but it wasn't to be at this juncture. It's all about options and what's available at the time. No manufacturer is going to have what you want, when you want it, with every feature that you want all of the time. So exercise the options that you do have.

I understand the knee jerk reaction to make a comment like that but it is misplaced. If you understood branding and marketing at all, you'd see where I'm coming from. Jumping the gun on product release dates, not having a solid execution, et cetera... all leads to a lack of trust with potential new customers that the significant chunk of change they're about to laydown on a piece of gear is a better investment than anything else. I want emo to succeed, just not shoot themselves in the foot and stunt their growth. X2 I was shopping for a DAC in march when i saw that Emotiva was making one. If someone has been waiting since around March for the XDA-1, chances are high that they will get frustrated and buy something else before it is released (since up to OCTOBER there is no concrete release date)... So what are the chances that such a frustrated customer would consider another Emotiva product in the future? Also, is it not likely that such a frustrated customer will spread word of his bad experience waiting on Emotiva? There is a real danger that the brand will become more notorious for product delays and stock shortages than famous for producing high quality, affordable gear... That would be a real shame as I (like most others here) am an Emotiva fan.... Also, since Emotiva products are relatively cheap, they are more likely to be impulse buys than other more expensive hifi gear.... That means that stockouts and product delays are far more likely to result in customers spending their money elsewhere...

Feel free to buy something else. I understand marketing and branding very well. I do know that it has developed a certain reputation for them. However, their sales continue to increase and their company continues to grow. Obviously something is working. The bottom line in my original post is that it is what it is, aggravated posts and comments about the company won't get the unit here any faster. What I really think people need to understand is how production works. It is not as simple as going over to the factory in China and saying make this now and have it delivered by X date. While in theory this should, but the factory has many other products that it is manufacturing and other development delays have set the unit back. Also, once the unit is ready for shipping, it is somewhat out of Emotiva's hands and now is handled by the shipping company. What I don't understand is what good does putting your name on a list now do if the product is not available. How is that different than just ordering it in a few weeks when it is available? People are going to say that they want on the pre-order to make sure they get one and there is stock. Well if we have learned anything, the pre-order does not guarantee anyone a unit as we saw with the UMC-1 and how they filled the orders as the stock came in.

Again,
Just like our launch of the upa-2, our new speakers and our subs, we are managing the pre orders on our website and will not have them up until we have a FIRM date. Some of you might know that China is on holiday in early October and most of the country is shut down during this time. (Whats that like! ) So getting information these past two weeks has been limited and now outgoing shipments will be backed up. etc. You get the idea.
I promise I will send out an email as soon as the site is "Live" so you can pre-order or "reserve"your XDA-1 and will be under no obligation to complete your purchase. As always, we will not take payment, until your unit ships.
I want you to have it in your home as soon as humanly possible!!! ;D ;D ;D
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
I hope this is clear.

We'll be here waiting Mrs.Laufman. We're just anxious. Meanwhile I've been talking up the unit on other forums and have generated some interest. Hopefully that makes up for the moaning and groaning.

(First Post) Joined the forums because I can't wait for the XDA-1. I got two XPA-1 amps a few months ago and I am blown away by the sound quality. Now I want to see what happens with an A+ low level going to them. I also have anouther problem, I accidently snapped off one of my unbalanced inputs on my XPA-1 So now I really can't wait for the XDA-1 so I can use the balanced input. Hurry up Emotiva! Love your products so far, can't wait to see whats next!!

I had one that broke off, I sent it back, at my expense, to have it repaired, and now a different RCA jack is very loose and will probably break soon. It is extremely frustrating that Emotiva does not anchor them in place whatsoever, but rather seems content to let them float there and be subject to the considerable weight of long\beefy RCA connectors.

A lot of the new products showcased at Emofest had a different style RCA connector and it was mentioned that the switch was made because there have been instances of the current style breaking. Hopefully this corrects the issue and everyone can avoid downtime with their gear and keep enjoying some tunes or movies.
