Im stunned by the lack of RPA love. But the UPA-1 is an underrated amp for sure. the XPA-5 is great for a single amp solution!

Im stunned by the lack of RPA love. But the UPA-1 is an underrated amp for sure. The results look like people are kind of just voting for the amp they own lol. Also I'm sure most people have only tried one of Emotivas amps so it probably a hard question to answer.

I agree. You can only go off of your own experience. I own the RPA-1, 2 UPA-1s, and an UPA-2. And honestly it is hard to tell a difference between the RPA and the UPA-1s (which is a huge compliment to the UPA-1). I love the UPA-2 also, can't be beat for the price.

I currently own the LPA-1 and will soon be grabbing a pair of UPA-1's.
I voted for the XPA-1.
Umm... DUH!
More slam than the XPA-2, all the musical benefits of the RPA-1 / 2 and UPA-1, in spades! Don't have to hear it.
Kind of a no-brainer...

You are probably right but I have only heard the XPA-1s for a few minutes at the RMAF.

So Which one is Emotivas best amp? When cost, flexablity and sound are factored in which one is king. Even with the qualifying second sentence this is still an impossible question to answer IMO. It basically comes down to the specific application and the money the buyer is willing to spend. A single or combination of different Emotiva amps might best for an individual's particular needs. For example, how can one pick between the UPA-1 and the UPA-7? I get the general idea of the OP, but just don't think one can make a definitive choice. This is not bagging the question it is just recognizing the outstanding price/performance value of all the Emo amps. I feel they are all quite equal for their designed purposes. Now what if the OP had asked what speaker is the best? Oh, that's one's easy. My daughter-in-law, who knows everything, told me that when they get speakers for their new display they are going to buy the best, BOSE!

For me "Best" means "Sound Quality". And in my humble opinion, I voted the UPA-1. ...I don't have a pair yet but it's coming eventually. #2 would have been the XPA-1. ...For RAW power! ...No need for it though, yet! Monoblocks anytime baby! ;D

Gotta agree.
For me the best amp is the UPA-1.
Smallish medium room, 2.1 channel, proposed monitors or Maggies (ain't decided yet) with fairly low sensitivity ratings, a penchant for high SPL levels at times.
The XPA-1 would be major overkill.
But GAWD they're awesome lookin'!

For me "Best" means "Sound Quality". And in my humble opinion The OP's question was which was best not only for sound but also considering cost and flexibility. Considering only sound, now that's a different thread. Try to stay on the subject please. Besides that, it never occurred to me that LOTR might have a humble opinion. ;D ;D ;D

Besides that, it never occurred to me that LOTR might have a humble opinion. ;D ;D ;D I did not read his post, only the Main title; but I anticipated his post; and I simply skip over it, by deliberate choice and purpose to express my own opinion, and without affecting other values that are in line. ...Which means the UPA-1 Performance/Value/Flexibility/Price Ratio is still #1 in my book. See Chuckie, I already covered my ss! EVERYTHING in my post was fully balanced at taking into consideration all aspects regarding the direct intention of this thread started by our dear OP, no more no less. * Luv my XPA-2 and XPA-5 though of course, as it suits exactly my purpose. But I got another Stereo rig only where a pair of UPA-1s would be the perfecto complemento! -> And I can be humble if/when I need to!

Ha, Chuckie, the question is not really about whether Bose is good or bad, that answer is one of the few truths left in the universe... the question is whether people who buy Bose are here or there (certainly nothing personal against your daughter in law). Yes you are right on about defining best. Pretty much true of anything, even at work. Just ask someone if they have ever done the best job they could have. Of course everyone will say yes. But wait, what if they had had more help, more time, more money, more knowledge, more equipment, more technology, etc. Could they have done better? Sure!! So best has to be defined by parameters and boundaries. Best amps are based on our ears, our pocketbook, our buying habits and sometimes even our wives!!!! ;D

As the XPA-1 is out of my budget and the XPA-2 does not make sense for me, I voted UPA-1. You get monoblock felxibility/benefits and great sound (nicer than my XPA-5 IMO and my XPA-5 hums, the UPA-1s don't or are very very quiet), XLR (which the other UPA amps don't have), you can move them around on your own and the price is not too outrageous. So I feel it is the best "overall".

...Which means the UPA-1 Performance/Value/Flexibility/Price Ratio is still #1 in my book. Yup. What he said. So best has to be defined by parameters and boundaries. Best amps are based on our ears, our pocketbook, our buying habits and sometimes even our wives!!!! ;D Ha! Definitely our wives. Part of my proposed upgrade is to make things more furniture-like, lol. The UPA-1 form factor is a plus. I'm moving to an open stand with glass shelves and nice wood trim that matches what's in the room. The UPA-1's will do a lot better on such a perch than a 70 or 80 lb amp. Plus, when it's all set up, it's gonna be really cool to have all this huge sound coming from three slim little boxes (XDA-1, UPA-1's).

Well well well... “Which Emotiva Amp is the best?”
In my personal opinion it is relevant question, because it is too many variables behind it.
Let me ask you a question: Are we talking about Stereo, 5.1 or 7,1?
As you can see most of us voting for the Amp that we already have so I don’t think poll for best amp actually reflecting “best amp”, however I will place my bet for XPA-1 (one for each channel – my dream).

Simple answer "it's the one I own". Being that it's an Emotiva amp, you probably won't need anything else for a very long time. They just work.
For me, it's an MPS-1. When it was purchased, I could configure it any way I wanted. I chose 5-channels or blades as it is a Class H amp. I could have gotten 7 channels, but most everything in surround is 5.1, so the choice was easy. In 2 channel, with Klipsch speakers, 200 watts RMS is overkill but I love it.
Anyone else with an MPS-1 care to comment?
