...are there any Emo pres out there to drive headphones well? (Senn 600, Beyer 880 or JVC2000) Darn, I just had a long detailed explanation that was lost when running the spell checker. The app froze and my post was lost. Shorter version to follow. Yep. Most of the previous pre amps and processor had excellent headphone amps. The current USP-1 has a great headphone amp. I have used the following cans with my USP and was easily able to drive all the headphones to very high sound levels. Grado SR-325/225/80, Senn HD-800/650/600/580/550, and a variety of less quality brands/models. The upcoming XSP-1 and XMC-1 (probably) will also have headphone amps. I tested the USP-1 against several external headphone amps in the $400 to 800 price range and found it to be equal to or better than any of them. Before I bought my first Emotiva product about three years ago I did a thorough search on the Internet to read everything I could find on the company and its products. I found several reviews on the RSP-1 and RSP-2 by Pro Reviewers and all of them highly praised the RSPs for the exceptional sound quality from their headphone amps. One of the reviewers compared the RSP-2's headphone amp against his reference systems tube external pre-amp (costing $1500) and reported that the Emotiva unit sounded better than his reference headphone amp. Before buying my USP-1, I spent a lot of time of the phone with Lonnie discussing all the sub systems in the USP-1; and, Lonnie said the RSP-2's headphone amp was pulled (and had improvements made) to use in the USP-1. That should speak volumes to you about the quality of the USP-1's headphone circuitry. At Emofest, Lonnie said the XSP-1 will have an even better headphone amp than the USP-1. Dozens of USP-1 owners have posted on various threads about how great they think the headphone amp in the USP-1 is. Try it... you will like it. ;D ;D ;D

I do believe however that with the XDA-1 there is now a market for a simple, cheap, Emotiva Signature quality 1 RU headphone amp.
I know that the guys at headfi and and similar will go mad for it. Imagine having a compact DAC / Headamp solution for under $500? thousands spend way more on funny woo audio or DIY kits already. If you build it, they will come.

I would love to see a fully balanced headphone amp. I am thinking about purchasing the audio-gd phoenix, headphone amp, but the price is an issue. If Emotiva built a headphone amp with both single ended and balanced output, I would buy it in a second; XHA-1, lets get working.

I regretted selling it awhile back. or some SinglePower (for tube)if you still can find one.
