Speaking of mainstream recordings, I logged into HDtracks.com and "Band on the Run" was available in 24/96. Hopefully this is the tip of the iceberg for mainstream in hi-res...and yes it sounds great. I hope I don't have to replace the whole Beatles catalog..again. There's a discount code on Head-Fi's home page if you want to discount the Wings further. And wait, you don't have the 24-bit Beatles Flash key yet? The monos are better anyway. Speaking of, if monos are full 16/44.1, that makes them kinda high res right? 88.2 equivalents.

I haven't checked into any of this stuff, I'm still cd based for the time being. Was wondering if the only super hires music on offer is sort of mellow music or classical and jazz only? I enjoy those genres too, especially jazz, but my mainstays are rock, metal, and hip hop.

I use HDTracks for some of my music but my Squeezebox Duet can't handle the hi-rez material. I think it downshifts to 44/48 KHz 24 bit. What are folks planning on using to feed the XDA-1? I have a WHS box in my basement with all of my music and would prefer not to have to locate a PC in the same room as my HT. I am considering an upgrade to the Squeezebox Touch but I am not sure Logitech is going to stay in this product area.

Here's a site I just found. Haven't tried it but it looks quite promising. It appears to be a hi-res subscription service. You join for a period of time and have access to downloads within that time- all from a "captive" recording studio that one would think would guarantee the integrity of the resolution format. www.bowers-wilkins.com/Society_of_Sound/Society_of_Sound
