Anyone here use Luminous Audio's passive preamp?
I'd like to try one but when ordering you have to furnish them with the input sensitivity of your amp. Any idea what that would be on a UPA-1?

Hello, audioholics has bench tested some of the Emotiva amps, and the latest test, a UPA-7 includes comments about the input sensitivity. Gene Dellasala tested the input sensitivity and the UPA-7 hit rated power at 1.1 Vrms. He says this shows the gain structure of the amp is about 3 db higher than typical. He says the XPA line tests similarly.
I can remember reading about this and I believe Emotiva's thoughts on the issue is that they wanted their amps a little more sensitve so they would operate well while using receivers as pre-pros which is what many customers mate their Emo amps with, there being so few budget minded pre-pros out there.
I can't say for sure what the input sensitivity of the UPA-1 is, but the amp has a gain of 32.
Hope this helps.

As per Emotiva support - "The UPA-1 input sensitivity is 1.25 volts to max power."

I own a pair of Luminous Audio SYNCHESTRA SIGNATURE Speaker Cables. If their preamp is half as good as their cables you are in for a treat...
