Does anyone have any experience with the Emo XRCA-1x2 audio signal splitter? I know it is mainly meant for using dual subs from one LFE output but can this also be used to split the signal, say from a USP-1 tape monitor jack, to two headphone amps? In other words, it would be splitting a full-range signal and not just low frequency content. Would the signal be degraded in any way from going through the splitter? Thanks!

It splits everything, I have 3 of them and apart from the RCAs being slightly different sizes each (bad QC I think) they are very solid and well made. I have one on each of my subs with .5m URCA from them to the two sub inputs on each sub. Works beautifully and is very neat. I've not opened on, but you can if you like and I suspect there is nice solid wire or plates inside - if I get a chance I will open my spare and take a look. OK, I just opened one - it has solid metals wires (insulated), well soldered between the 3 terminals.

Thanks! So they seem to work okay? Does it pass through the signals unaltered in terms of sound and volume?

I guess the question is go cheap with Monoprice or more luxurious with Emo.. actually I like the Monoprice mainly because it is smaller/more flexible and has the connectors already.

Thanks! So they seem to work okay? Does it pass through the signals unaltered in terms of sound and volume? It is purely a connector - bare metal end to end. So it should be no different than 3cm of quality wire.

Thanks for the replies! Only thing is the Monoprice is 6" long and that might not be enough for the distance between the two amp inputs. I'll have to check that tonight.. thanks, though!

Thanks for the picture. Lots of obvious quality in that little box! I'm going to order a couple. I don't think the Monoprice splitter cables are long enough and anyway, if this is something permanent, might as well buy the stuff that will last. That Emo splitter looks great.

Does anyone know if it is directional or does it works either way ? 1 in 2 out; 2 in 1 out.

Does anyone know if it is directional or does it works either way ? 1 in 2 out; 2 in 1 out. It's just bare wire so can't be directional. (Please don't mention direction specific speaker wire, we don't want this thread derailed completely!) All 3 posts are joined together, so it is a pure Y connector.

No I Just couldn't see clearly from the picture. I asked a question befor if the xda and usp could be use together but independantly into the upa's and was told not without switching the amp fom ballanced (xda) to unballanced (usp) it seems to me that it is possible then with 2 of these splitters.

Ah, the post for the "monitor impaired". ;-) I'll have you know that I went to great time and expense to modify that photo so I could see it on my little dinky monitor. ;D

I saw the Emo Y connectors at Emofest and they use very high quality connectors using solid brass with thick gold plating on all contact areas. Lonnie also said that their litlle jewels are fully shielded. As you could see from the photo of the interior wiring, it uses heavy gauge wire inside the boxes -- not something resembling dental floss. ;D
The equivalent quality wire adaptors from Blue Jeans and other high quality cable manufacturers are more expensive than the Emotiva "black boxes". Next time I need a Y connection I will be calling Emo, after having physically handling their offering. They look nicer in person than they appear in the photos.
