Yes, Yes what's the chance? The old remote is embarrassing people have said " what's this?". I've got the ERC-1 remote sitting on top of my nice rack but I tend to leave the USP-1 in a drawer when not listening. It will make sense to go to a universal when I add a music server set up but my 2 channel in the living room would love this remote. Maybe free if you have purchased 3 or more items in the past?

I e-mailed Emo a couple of days ago, I think it was Vince who replied and said they would be available for purchase, he didn't say when though or at what cost.

It's not as complicated as the UMC-R so here's hoping for $30.

As of last night Emo had not responded to my email inquiry. I would just give Vince a call.

Good eve
So I just picked up one of my XPA-1s from Fedx as well as the USP-1......I know Emo gives us a lot of bang for our buck.....but what gives with the USP-1 remote....little things like that shouldn't go unnoticed.....total crap !
I was wondering if they are offering another remote that equals the quality of the pre and power amp that we can buy, or can I use that UMC-R Milled remote in its place....?

Just spoke with Vincent from Emotiva this morn.......(great guy) he informed me that they are currently working on this issue, and will be offering a retrofit / update for USP-1 customers in the new year. Seemed very genuine, and concerned! Hope this translates into resolve.

I would ask Emotiva to replace your USP-1 remote with the new remote (as pictured in the first post) when it becomes available next year.

I too would like to have the new remote sitting on my coffee table, the old one was a disappointment, I email Emotiva the other day and here is the response. ------- Thank you for interest in the USP-1 metal remote. We are in the process of determining pricing. Also please note that we would need to reflash the controller of the USP-1 to operate correctly with the Metal Remote control.
Thank you for your support. -------
I hope this is a user update, I don't think I would absorb the shipping cost from Halifax NS to Emotiva.

Hey Mike
Not certain, but from what I gathered talking with Vincent today it might be a user update....here's hoping! So how do you like your USP-1 and are you using the Phono stage with yours......your feedback would be greatly appreciated, as I just picked mine up yesterday along with my 2 XPA-1s.

So are you guys saying that USP-1 owners are getting a new, updated metal remote?

So are you guys saying that USP-1 owners are getting a new, updated metal remote? Since they have raised the price on the USP-1 well above it's original sell price I would bet money that the remote will not be free, maybe reduced price for current owners but this is just conjecture at this point.

My guess is, for current or new owners with the cheesy/crappy remotes will be offered a upgrade.....hopefully @ a very discounted price! Free would be nice, but highly unlikely.....I guess we will have to wait patiently and see. My 2nd XPA-1 just arrived today and I hooked everything up ( sounds great ) only to find out the crappy remote doesn't even work.

I own a USP-1 and agree, the remote is pretty cheesy. I don't even use it because I have a Harmony remote. My two cents, though, is that is what came with the unit and the functions/commands are so simple that it does not demand any fancy remote. Sure it looks and feels cheap but for most people it works and since Emo decided to use that, it is what it is. It's nice that they are making a more sturdy remote but I don't feel any of us who bought the USP-1 are entitled to getting the upgraded remote free. The product would have cost more in the first place if the remote were better.
If they give it out free that just means the price on something else has to be raised to subsidize that.

I somewhat agree with you however, if you go on the EMO site such as I did, you will notice that they are advertising the USP-1 with a entirely different remote !!! Now I just want a remote that actually works....lol Also, I don't mind paying for a new remote, but I don't think it would be wrong of me to expect it at a discounted price....given they are advertising a completely different remote with the USP-1.

Since I'm from Europe, hopefully there will be a way for users to upgrade to the new remote without having to send the unit in for recoding. I'm praying Emotiva will find a away to let the user recode it in some way.

Hi,
I just yesterday ordered online a USP-1. The usp-1 page on the emotiva site indicates the new metal remote is shipped with all new orders.
Does anyone know anything to the contrary? Hard to believe they would advertise it on the order page if the metal remote was not shipping?
thanks, ken
p.s. I have heard great things about the usp-1. I have what is considered pretty high end stuff (OTL tube amps, Reference 3A DeCapo speakers, power conditioner) so I am showing a lot of confidence in emotiva in fitting the the usp-1 into this very revealing system, and I have high hopes I won't be disappointed.
