I have been considering the purchase of the XDA-1 and the Wadia 170i for some time but I'm hoping someone here can answer a question for me.
I understand the benefits of of connecting my ipod to the Wadia, then the Wadia to a DAC like the XDA-1 for the best possible sound from the Ipod. However, suppose I wanted to access Itunes directly from my macbook instead of the Ipod, would I simply connect the macbook to the XDA-1, or would I be able to connect the macbook to the Wadia and then to the XDA-1?

You would need one of these www.abacus24-7.com/search.aspx?SearchTerm=Toslink+Female+to+Toslink-Mini+Male+Adapterand a toslink cable long enough to connect the macbook to the XDA or you could do what I'm going to do and get a new Apple TV and use it to connect the XDA with a glass toslink cable of shorter length which will reduce jitter. You can then stream via wireless from your mac to the Apple TV, assuming you have a wireless network. Hopefully Apple will start allowing apps on the Apple TV and make Pandora available. That would make me very happy.

Thanks for the info. So with one of these adapters, would I go direclty to the DAC, or will this allow me to hook up to the Wadia then to the DAC?

Why can't the USB out of the macbook be used into the USB input on the X-DAC?
That is what I was planning on doing and then using the Pure Music software to get the best sound out of my iTunes.
