Jasona, that looks great...perfect comparison.
I am interested in a version that includes differences between audio processors and video processors. Anyone have a side by side comparison between the UMC-1 and the XMC-1? I guess I just don't know enough about the differences I will hear or see.

Well, from what we know right now, the UMC and XMC will both use the same audio and video processors. I suppose you could think of the XMC as "more of the same". From an audio processing standpoint, they'll probably support all of the same audio formats, although I suppose there's a possibility they may try to get Dolby PLIIz into the XMC. Same EmoQ setup and Dolby Volume on both. Same video processor, although the XMC will double up so you get full video processing on the second zone, plus dual outputs on the main zone (so you have a lot more video flexibility, particularly if you run more than one display in a theater room). They have said that the XMC will have a "hot rodded" audio section, and appears to be using higher quality ADCs/DACs.

I wonder what DAC they will implement on both. Will the DAC that they include be comparable to any current outboard DACs available on todays market?

The DACs in the UMC are the Cirrus CS42518
In the XMC all we know is they are "Analog Devices 24/192 DACs" (possibly the 1955 used in the ERC-1?)

what do you know about these chips? these brands tell me little because I do not have the knowledge. Can you break it down (e.g., between the Cirrus CS42518 and the 1955 used in the ERC)?

I had not noticed the .1 XLR connection before. Does this mean there will be enough voltage for a pro amp? I would really like to get rid of the clean box if this was the case.

That refers to the fact that the UMC-1 will have an XLR connection only for a powered subwoofer. (Hence the .1 for a 5.1 or 7.1 system)

I am looking fwd to hearing user reviews on this prepro. I need a new prepro to replace my Acurus Act 3, but will keep my Acurus amps (200 x 3 and A 80). One feature I always missed was a front headphone jack, will there be ine with the UMC-1 or XMC-1

At the moment 9.x (or more) is not included with the XMC either.

'At the moment 9.x (or more) is not included with the XMC either.'
I wonder if that could change b4 it comes out. I was planning to get the umc-1 since my amps don't have balanced outputs, but I think I would like to try a 9.2 system.

How is the Emo configuration compare to the others out there? Does it work as good as Audyessy?

Could we have an up to date features chart comparing the UMC-1 to the XMC-1 please? :-)
