I voted as well. My opinion is that I will always choose a Processor and Multichannel Amplifier over any Receiver at any time. That's why I purchased last this month my Onkyo PR-SC5508 Processor and its matchng Onkyo PA-MC5500 Class A/B 9 Channel Amplifier which replaced my Pioneer Elite SC-07 Receiver and my Emotiva UPA-7 Amplifier.
As good as many High End Receivers may be they will never "Outperfomed" a High End Processor and Amplifier. I have owned many High End Receivers but when it comes to Separates nothing beats them.
Remember that two of the main reasons why people buy a receiver over separates is because,
1. No space to place a Processor and Amplifier in their cabinet or Audio rack. 2. Cost. It cost more to buy a Processor and Amplifier that it will cost to purchase just a Receiver with both amplification and processing all in one box.

But I will say that everyone is looking for something different out of something. For instance I love cars and spend a lot on them for the best in performance, fit and finish and style. But I have friends who could care less about a car as it means little to them. One of my buds drives a 2001 Toyota Camry......... But he has a $165,000 airplane......... : )

Regardless of the reasons some want integrated options, it is good to know that the idea of separates is winning (currently 62/38) over any integrated option!
And to build on porscheguy's #3...maybe it is not stupidity but instead ignorance. Many people simply don't know that they can even get separates - mainly because where the places they shop (Best Buy and the like...) offer only integrated units. So - that's all they think exists and they "want" it - not knowing there are options.
I say this because some folks I know and love look at my system and get totally confused..."what's that part? and what's that part? and that one....?" What seems obvious to me is really a new world to them. I just explain it in the simplest possible terms and then they seem to "get it".

The moment you buy any multi-use machine you are compromising on something. True separates should include a dedicated 2-channel system (if you listen to music).
Without a dedicated HT room I doubt that $2K to $3k+ of separates would significantly improve the TV/movie experience for me. Based on that I would say that a good receiver and a decent 2-channel system will provide more bang for the buck. YMMV
Of course if money was no object ............

Roadrunner and other long time separates audio enthusiasts, I think the Onkyo products look great and I have noticed on many occasion other separate components that have been replaced by Emotiva where Dyohn had Sunfire before the UMC and other examples where I am impressed to see Emotiva in such good standing with you all. It really reinforces my decision to go separate and with the Emotiva line. Good stuff for sure.

Just a question here, it looks like the amp has an impedance switch on it. Is this correct?
