Oppo BDP 83 digital out to XDA

Does anyone know whether the Oppo BDP83 does any processing of the signal if I use the Digital Out to the XDA? I ask because I am A/B testing the Oppo into Opt1 and my Macbook Pro using iTunes (where I rip the same CD I own at the higher input level I can and also highest output) using the Optical Audio out to the Opt2 input on the XDA and there is a marked difference in the sound. The Macbook to XDA is much more clear, as such the placement of instruments is much more defined and not as bassy. The Oppo to the XDA is a bit louder (like due to output voltage differences), but clearly more bassy/middy in sound. Muddy almost in some instances.

The Oppo shouldn't do any, as long as it bitstreams.I had 83 and now have 93 connected to the XDA-1 and I am very pleased with what I hear

It happened the same thing in mine comparing the BDP83 vs Apple TV (2nd gen). The ATV sounds better.

I have registered here , but have not yet been approved. I just wanted to post this link as it is very interesting in regards to getting the most out of the Oppo . Pulling the Audio off the Hdmi and then sending it digital to a DAC . Its a long read , but very worth it .

Hopefully I will be activated here soon , and contribute a bit more .
