Im in the process of evaluating the Benchmark vs the XDA-1. Will take me sometime as I listen to one for a long time and then swap them out. I cant really do A-B quick swaps and have to live with them for a while to really know what I like. Will update the forum when I can make a useful statement about it.

looking forward to your review I am as well. It will be interesting to see how the Emo stacks up against a (much) more expensive competitor. In this type of comparison it's not weather or not the Emo sounds better, (as it should not be expected to at the two different price points) but more about how close it can get to that level of performance.

I own two DACs and have used them over almost five years. MSB TECH NELSON LINK 111 Parasound DAC1100 XDA-1 has beaten them both in terms of tranparancy, bass attack, resolution and detail. My fiancee immediately mentioned how clean the highs sound and tight the bass is with XDA-1.She has listened to my system all these years and she always said "What could be better than what you have?" I told her that there is always something different one can do to make systems sound better. She didn't believe me until she heard the XDA-1. I only use it as a DAC. Coaxial digital signal out from my Cambridge Audio CD player into three DIPs(Monarchy Audio) and from DIPs digital XLR out to the XDA-1 XLR balanced input.DIP is an anti-jitter filter to eliminate jitter in the digital signal.Usually you only need one, but I filter the digital signal three times before going into XDA-1.Jitter is virtually zero and DAC chip inside XDA-1 is also very good at eliminating jitter. So the sound is so damn tight and highs are so sweet, midrange is luscious, channel separation is wide. My digital cables consist of XLO,Wide Eye Apogee,Tara Prism,Monster etc..etc.. I do not have any volume problems as mentioned by others ,maybe because I only use it as a DAC.Anyway for $299.00 it is a steal!!!!!!!!! I have been listening to a lot of audiophile CDs and sound keeps getting better. My favorite disc right now is XRCD"Boss Tenor by Gene Ammons. Gene has been dead for many many years. But you know what! He is in my living room blowing his sax and it sounds spooky as hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a DAC anybody can keep because for the money,I don't think any other manufacturer can compete with this gem Ranjith from San Diego
