I've been enjoying various local pils and dunkels, fresh out of the tap, from local breweries here near Bad Soden, Germany and yesterday near Rudescheim.
But, at 2 PM, we're going the the Rheingau wine region...for some of those extra fine local grape by-products. I must get someone else to drive today!

It's morning so I brewed a fresh pot George's Burly Blend coffee from Alterra! It's my favorite blend! ;D

Water so far - but may pop a bottle of Rosé Cava tonight or tomorrow given the time of year.

Hard apple cider that we made ourselves! It worked out well...nice and dry with the right amount of carbonation.

Nice! I used to do home-brew cider, the best one was very dry and 9% alc. by vol. I believe you can get ciders in Somerset and other well known English cider areas with 14% alc and a lot of them (like home brew) may still have live yeast so you need to be careful if you are eating sugary foods at the same time.

Back to a 2007 Honig Cabernet tonight, almost out. Any suggestions for a good cab or shiraz??? sure. Try Primus if you can find it. Chilean blend. Heavenly for around $17 +/- depending on your area. My journal on the 2006: Dark ruby in color, the nose is stunning for the price: waves of black cherry, chocolate, and faint notes of vanilla. Its quite balanced in the mouth with super fine grain tannins (silky yet powerful) with a dense chewy core. The flavors seem to burst in the mouth: more cherries, chocolate, cocoa powder, and cedar. The wine's finish is long. Slainte!

Widmer Brothers Drifter Pale Ale. A lot lighter, and less hoppy than I'm used to, but it's a nice change.
