I am considering a mod to mine that will optionally allow selection of the HT bypass to either the HP or FULL (and the subwoofer) all via a sealed reed relay system that will will optionally activate under no power also. While I am at it I might also kill the Blue E power button.
I am in the middle of moving house right now so this is not going to happen for a while but I will document it for those are interested when I do get around to it.

I wish they would have put the bass management controls on the front of the unit. I find myself changing the setting depending on the song or recording, and I have to reach behind the processor to do it. Any one else doing the same thing?

I don't think you want the crossover adjustment on the front.. I think what you want is an EQ (3 band etc.)...

I would like it on the front just so I can more easily see what setting I put it on. And, I do sometimes like to vary the setting just to see what I like best.

It sounds like it´s a processor you need... Personally, I think that the LPF and HPF settings are something one set ONE time. After that is done one can adjust the bass level on the subwoofer...

How have you people configured the LPF / HPF levels on USP-1? Do you have the same value on both knobs or do you have an overlap like I do? I use a 60 Hz setting on the LPF knob and a 50 Hz setting on the HPF knob...

cantonreference7...I have mine current set equal, at 50 and 50.
My comments above were related to two things. First, I have experimented to see if I noticed any audible differences. Within the range I varied the settings, I didn't notice any differences. Second, I also experimented and did measurements using REW to collect data to see if the settings had any impact on a particular hot spot I had found with REW in my 50/50 settings. In that case, nothing I did with the UMC-1 settings impacted the hot spot, so that helped me zoom in on room/speaker interaction issues.
So, I have not used them much and don't use them as an EQ/processor. But I would still like them on the front.

That makes perfect sense to me!

Count me as another 50/50! Tried other settings and returned to this one.

I am testing 50/50 right now and it sounds GREAT!

For my fronts, 50 is a really good number...they really roll off just below 50. I originally thought I would want a lower setting option, but when I really read the specs on my fronts and looked at REW data from the fronts plugged into the full range outs...yeah, 50 was fine.

Does anyone know if the HPF output has lower SQ compared to the full range output?

I tried my MMGs with the USP-1 full range outputs and think they sound better on the HP outputs with a subwoofer.

I think that Magnepans shouldn´t be feed with low frequencies-they can´t handle it.

I think that Magnepans shouldn´t be feed with low frequencies-they can´t handle it. I don't know about handling low frequencies, but they sure don't reproduce them much below their rated -3dB point. They roll off pretty steeply below that. In any event, the MMGs I believe sound better when alleviated from frequencies below 50 Hz. A subwoofer is a good idea to pick up the next octave below that.

I tried it with my set-up (without using the sub) and still think I prefer the sound using the HP/LP outs.
