I know what you stated previously, I was correcting your inaccurate statements. Like I mentioned before, glad you happy with the one you have. I fully understand how each system functions and don't feel that what I said was inaccurate. I will agree that I said a UPS will increase power, while saying switching over to battery to maintain power is more accurate. Your APC will have shut down limits similar to most any other power conditioners if it gets too high or too low it will shut down to hopefully save the system, that's what the protection system is designed to do and it is a form of regulation. The APC also does another form of regulation that increases and lowers the voltage for more minor changes, this form of regulation I really do not want and I am not concerned with. I would think that the APC form of regulation if it has the ability to create power increases of its own a failure could create a power spike of its own and in this case the APC will need to provide protection from itself as well as other sources of power spikes, but it probably isn't capable increasing the power much anyway. I agree I am glad you are happy with what you have, I couldn't be happier with what I purchased.

I can throw a vote toward the Belkin. I bought a PF-30 awhile back for use at my work residence out west. Whew...in that place, every time a fluorescent light, A/C or heater motor went on/off line.....it sounded like a rifle shot coming through the speakers. That's gonna break something sooner or later....and the Belkin all but eliminated those nasties.
Down in the Caribbean? You just better "git gone" when the power grid starts it's nonsense. Voltage swings from 50-150vac aren't so uncommon in the summer.
I don't trust anyone's box to protect against a MAJOR disturbance or lightning strike, so when I'm not using my stuff....it is unplugged. Completely.
The Belkin does a good job as a filter, and I'd buy another.

I agree. I own the Belkin 30800. It's been seemless on power outages. We don't get many at all, but when they hit, like during a thunderstorm, without the alarm I wouldn't know anything happened.
