Was wondering same thing with the ad I got this a.m. From Emo.
Too bad no DAC abilities.

Saw ERC-2 in the update e-mail I just received, thought it was typo. Looking at the ERC-1 and 2 product pages, they are identical except for the fancy new printing on the face of the ERC-2. WTF? EDIT: My bad, looks like the 2 has an AES/EBU output

It thought it was a typo too. I went to the ERC-1 page and replaced the 1 with a 2 and TA-DA!!

My guess is it has a better analog section than the ERC-1...

My guess is it has a better analog section than the ERC-1... With the overwhelming lack of info flowing from Emo, all one could do is guess

I would love to have the ERC-2 and take it for a spin with a full and objective review of it! * I wonder how I can do that...

With the waning popularity of CD's I wonder why release the ERC-2? From looking at the specs it doesn't seem to be any different than the ERC-1 except for the additional AES/EBU input, and fancier writing on the front panel. Also, odd to announce it in the newsletter when there isn't even an "official" product page. (one with links from the product list page)
By the way, I tried replacing the "u" in the URL for the UMC-1 with an "x" but got a page not found error. ;D

I'm at work and I saw the email on my phone. I'm glad I'm not the only one that logged on to see what the deal-e-o was! ;D I can't imagine they'd put out a cd player with a better analog stage and charge the same price as the ERC-1, but time will tell. Maybe with the added AES/EBU outputs it integrate better with a stand alone DAC??? I look forward to more details. Maybe the fancy writing is aimed at matching better with the XPA-1's.

Maybe the ERC-2 just inherited the XDA-1 full differential output stage.
Dave.
