240fps/Hz will give you a true multiple too (and of 60Hz/fps). 120Hz per eye. The latest Sony and Mitsubishi home units seem to have that using Sony's latest SXRD panels.
I would also hope they can run the panels at 200Hz for PAL support. They should also support FI in 2D and 3D as part of this (as an option).
Check out the new VPL-VW30ES coming next month, it is now top of my short list for a new projector (my picture is now behind my sound again).

I think 3D will be around until it's replaced with something better. I'm not about to use it at this point, but I did see a 42" glass-less 3D demo. I think it was Panasonic. It had a real WOW factor, almost holographic, but the image displayed was only slowly moving. Not a movie. As I understand it, they have trouble with fast movement, but it'll get better. Also there are now some cameras and smartphones that take 3d pics and movies. Progress marches forward. Jeff

I went and saw Jack Ass in 3 D just to see how I would like it, I thought it sucked. Hell, I know Blu Ray is supposed to be better than regular DVD but I think the picture still looks good on just DVD.
I have not even bought into Blu Ray Yet. Oh no, here comes the bombs to me about Blu Ray.
I think with all the new ways to see movies that are coming that it will come down to if there will actually be any more good movies in the future to see.
If I see another car blow up or a million machine guns that go off and the main character stays alive with out a scratch I think I will throw up.
Maybe why that's why I listen to music more.

As usual Hollywood is screwing up everything 3D is an after thought with them which of course makes movies worse you can`t shoot in 2D and then say hay lets turn it into 3D or shoot in 3D with a 2D attitude about it it just doesn`t work

I too have not upgraded to Blu-Ray and maybe streaming will be the way to go. Wal-Mart just got in the streaming game. I just cannot justify the cost of disks. The players are affordable but I too like you am happy with the resolution I am getting.

3d is a solution looking for a problem. It was introduced solely to increase sales of televisions and other CE devices. The market isn't always wise, hopefully it will be in this case and 3d will stagnate and disappear.

I got a blu-ray player not because I want to buy blu-ray movies but because I like to rent them then they started making blu-ray audio and now I`m even happier I bought a blu-ray player even though the discs are a bit pricy I think the SQ makes it worth the price on some , streaming blu-ray has of yet is not worth the trouble or cost to me the SQ is not quit as good as discs

Well it's not specifically that if you dig a bit deeper - 2D screens hurt your eyes too. It's a study to see how much of an issue it is and it seems it is less unpleasant than they actually thought it would be and the study is also into ways to make it less so.

One could say using one's eyes hurts them. I'll just keep using my very high correction glasses that I have to wear. Maybe they'll say glasses are bad for your eyes and I'll have to walk around blind.

I used to have +6 lenses but got the laser thing done in Canada in 1999. They say exercise is really good for them (i.e. using them, well the focusing muscles anyway), like any muscle - such as focusing on some letters close to you and then on something like an eye chart 6m away etc. Likely this kind of exercise might help keep parts flexible as you age too. Just as well one of my hobbies involves distance use unlike the other two.

personally I like 3D and with the active shutter glasses it`s quit stunning even over my prescription glasses and as the tech matures it will only get better the biggest problem is Hollywood and there improper and half ass way of implementing the tech

Agreed.
I'm also thinking that what we may well need in the future is the reverse of today, we will want 3D to 2D in our displays for folks that the 3D does not work for.

I would like it for gaming and certain movies, but otherwise I think it will be a choice, but it will never take over. Now holography on the other hand. ;D
