+1 for internet streaming and NAS connectivity. I'd love the XDA-1 to pull in uPNP or DLNA stuff from local sources. Why, even the possibility of using a connected USB drive should be considered.

two problems:
he's never had experience with an outboard DAC.
There are Emotiva ads all over the site.
third complaint: where are the other reviews???
I really love my XDA-1. I love the way it looks. And at this stage of my system build, it sounds fantastic. But it's not the typical Emotiva GIANT KILLER piece. I should not feel the need to upgrade, merely from reading.
I loved my ERC-1. I love my ERC-2. Everybody bows down to the ERC, I've never read anything bad about the ERC.But all I read about the XDA is how "just ok" it is. And it makes me wanna jump on the next opportunity that comes along. Which is sad, because I really enjoy its sound quality, but it's clear for a bit more money I can do better. I really love the way it looks too, I wish I could keep it. I love that bank of lights. It looks like ultra futuristic from the 1950's.
I am loathe to upgrade my XDA-1. I wish I didn't have to. If Lonnie will jump in here and tell me there's an XDA-2 coming with increased performance then I will keep my XDA-1.
FYI I've bought ERC-1, ERC-2, and XDA-1 from Emotiva so I'm money in the bank if you can keep me satisfied.
Another complaint: I've got a launch unit and I am not looking forward to paying for shipping back to Emotiva to get the frigging volume control fixed. I've been holding back on doing that. But .5 volume is loud, 4 is rocking the house... 80?

Jim, Excellent review of the XDA-1. I respect the fact that you were right up front about the fact you own Emotiva gear. Its funny that as I'm reading the review there is a picture of my rack . Is there any royalties involved seeing that it is my picture ;D. You gave an excellent description of what we all basically heard when comparing the XDA-1 to the Pioneer and the 93. Hopefully we can have another GTG of NEAN (New England Audio Nerds ;D) in the near future. We should have a Oppo 95 to throw into the mix . Bill
