Last year when the ERC-1 was released a number of Lounge members brought up the question about swapping out the OPAmp and Lonnie chimed in and pointed out that doing so would have little to no impact on the sound quality of the ERC. Lonnie pointed out that is was used solely as a filter and changing to a different OPAmp would not improve the sound. It appears that the XDA-1 is using the OPAmp in much the same way so there is not likely to be a significant impact on its sound either. I would contact Lonnie and ask for his feedback before going forward with this mod. Why risk voiding your warranty if there is little to no chance of improvement to be gained?
