As I've gotten better speakers, gotten a really, really nice amp, and have begun exerimenting with room treatments, it seems the quality of the XDA-1 comes out further and further.
I'd fallen privy to reading about other DAC's in comparison and I'd forgotten to take some of that stuff with a grain of salt. System synergy is a big deal, as are personal tastes.
There are other, more expensive options I might consider down the road, but the XDA-1 provides a powerful, real audiophile experience and so far I love it.

The true sign of a real audiophile product is how it can continue to grow in your system as other components get upgraded.
In other words, it is rarely the weakest link in the audiophile chain.
