I came home yesterday to find that my 2 new Upa 1's had been delivered. I was like alittle kid, the wife had them unpackaged so all I had to do was hook them up.( She had cold beer also.) So what can I say about these? I can use all the obligatory words like headroom, wide soundstage, jet black noise floor, and all the others But i like to get straight to the point, these things are awesome. I did not think my modest system could sound so good. Listened to some Dire Straits, Alison Krauss, and finished up with Joe Satriani flying in a blue dream. I just sat there with a big smile on my face. Tomorrow is Saturday so i will really give them a workout. The honey-do list can wait..

These things are amazing, they have enough power to have an 18yo out of bed before noon on a Saturday.

I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome to the lounge. I spent a lot of time listening to a lot of music today. rock, country jazz, blues and cannot tell you how impressed I am, these amps are just beautiful sounding and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is considering buying them to add to there system. I just finished my day by listening to the Eagles farewell tour on dvd. Closed my eyes and laid my head back and just listened with a smile on my face. Nice ending to a fantastic day. Thank you Emotiva...

I would say that comments like this make Big Dan and the team feel pretty good about their business plan and what they have done for the budget connoisseur. Thanks for sharing, glad your enjoying your gear and once again welcome to the lounge.

Congrats on the new monoblocks! You are gonna love them. As others have stated, the more you listen...the more you will fall in love. ... and the more you will want MORE of them. I'm "fully kitted" now until I get a processor with more channels and loving it. With the identical amp/speaker per channel, everything has become one big coherent sound stage with the subs providing a totally integrated blend to the heavy lifting. I'm loving it.

I am envious of your setup. I can only imagine how great having 7 ERM-6.3 speakers must sound when mated with good musical subs. You must be sitting on cloud nine after listening to your favorite musical scores. Did upgrading from the ERD-1 surrounds make a significant improvement to the surround effects, or was it just improved sound quality from going with the ERM-6.3s? Now you have me trying to figure out a way to go with 7 ERM-6.3s. Since you are the first Lounge member to report that configuration you are going to help subsidize my upgrade, right? ;D ;D ;D

Glad you are enjoying your UPA-1s, I just bought a few not too long ago and am excited to try them out on new speakers in the near future... don't tell my wife, please, because it's not going to be inexpensive.

Now you have me trying to figure out a way to go with 7 ERM-6.3s. Since you are the first Lounge member to report that configuration you are going to help subsidize my upgrade, right? ;D ;D ;D Swapping out the ERD-1s made a huge difference, rear effects are really enveloping and positioning was also improved as well as the SQ. IMO ERD-1s need to be XOed at 120Hz which really reduces the "fill". My room is particularly unforgiving in this respect though as it is open at the rear. Having all identical speakers really seems to improve the sense of having one defined 360 degree sound field - sounds passing through the field in any direction are seamless. I won't subsidise your upgrade, but I will offer assistance - the main obstacle is mounting the speakers on the wall - I have all the surrounds horizontal and pretty close to the ceiling, a nice improvement was adding the SS-6 stands to point them downwards. If you have the room, putting them vertically may be better, but as they are quite wide, the horizontal placement does work very well. Due to adding the extra UPA-1s, I have my centre horizontal as well now. I am currently trialling a 75Hz XO and liking it a lot. It is all really awesome, I have found myself having much less "tweaking finger" since I put the latest gear in, i.e. I don't have the urge to keep fiddling with levels and such all the time. Everything is just a big natural enveloping sound field so I can finally get on with enjoying the content. Music is awesome as it should be too. PLIIx enabled now sounds as good if not better than stereo whereas before it seemed a little "off" in the front sound stage (although I think that was mostly the Emo-Q distances being funny).

I would be very interested in how you wall mounted the ERM-6.3, especially when also using the SS-6 shelving. Photos and close-ups of mounting would be most useful and greatly appreciated.
I know that my room is different from yours, but I have found that crossing the ERD-1 speakers works very well at 100Hz. I was mildly surprised as their response curve is only down 2dB at 80Hz.

I have my two, also... I can't use them yet. I need the other two (being ordered tomorrow) to run the woofers in a real bi-amped system. Still waiting to hook the XDA-1 into the system, as well! All I know, is that when I finally do this thing, it's gonna be freakin' HUGE. Brandie new D/A, Behringer UltraDrive Pro crossover, 4 UPA-1 amplifiers, bi-amped BG planar speakers, all new balanced cables throughout (OK... XLR connections, if not true "balanced"). This will be a system worthy of the name "Haemphyst". LOL It was this very forum that made me decide on these amps. I love the look of them, and I love the descriptions and reviews they've been given. I think I will be happy. Perhaps we can revel in our new acquisitions together. Soon.
