I find it's the way they measure wattage rating for the most part, they augment the rating to get sales in reality if you compared how they make the amp section in the avrs, you can understand why a power amp sounds so much better..
1 toroidal per channel vs 2-3 toroidal's to 7-11 channels.
I reckon is they put 7-11 toroidals in an avr I think you would be hard pressed to beat with any poweramp.. with exception to the xpa-1...

wpgmb03, I think you are now hearing the reason Bronze are not Silver or Gold M.A.s. Good clean power will show speaker weakness. Bronze are marketed for receivers. Silver- receivers or separates. Gold strictly separates. My Golds were previously owned by a guy that used a receiver & thought they were over-rated. How wrong he was, he never heard what they could be. Audio is all about component matching. Time for the never ending upgrade (RX6 or GS20). chuckienut is dead on.

thnx all, great info...... i decided to keep the xpa-5 and maybe will look for a two channel just for music. the xpa-5 sound got better but still not yet the sound i like just yet, will keep tingger with it and see will it get better. i know it is bronze and not higher series but i had heard my spker before and i know what it's capable of. if i have to get the best of everything at higher price then there are no need for company like emo, just saying!!!! i'm not trashing but just in search of.....
