Can anyone comment on how the Dayton Audio OmniMic compares. It seems like an "all in one package" without having to decide on which mic to use and obtaining the correct calibration file. Cheers, Dave. I've never used it. It is also more expensive than a mic and USB sound box and I suspect currently is less flexible. Also, what EQs can it control or produce output for would be the key question, otherwise you'd need to do EQ setting by hand.

So far we got 49 questions, and only 3 answers! ;D Nemesis, get on with the program mate! ;D * Me I know nada, I'm here like anybody else to learn and enjoy the ride. I'm seriously thinking I might need a new thread to start fresh. Maybe we can do like some of the usenet groups and I can have one thread where I post stuff and use this one for general chat and folks asking questions? If someone can summarise the 49 - 2 questions outstanding I can post an lot of answers together. I want this to be a very simple step by step guide, less complicated than the manual or details posted elsewhere and showing places that I found confusing/hard to follow when I started explained simply.

What would be the title for that new thread, "REW For Dummies?"
Great idea Nemesis.ie.

Maybe we can do like some of the usenet groups and I can have one thread where I post stuff and use this one for general chat and folks asking questions? I agree 100%. Lets keep this thread going with the questions and general chit-chat about REW, and have a second thread that only Nemesis.ie can post in. If another user posts in Nemesis' thread, the mods can route the posts here (if it is a question) or delete it, if it is just conversation. That way Nemesis.ie can keep his thread clean, easy to read, and organized how he would like.

I'd sell the 1124p and get a MiniDSP, better overall value than buying a midi adapter IMO. I never got my 1124p to work with the USB midi adapter even though all appeared to be working (and the BFD was in the right mode etc.). I'd suggest ordering in a calibrated mic, from the US if you have to, I did, well worth it.

Also, what mic did you get, and where can we get get one? ;D Thanks.

My midi works great and right from the get go and the BFD works good for my 2 subs but I only have one 50hz bump/fix in one sub and a slight 70hz and 40hz bump in the other sub so not much work for the BFD to fix and I probably could get by with just audyssey and not even use the BFD

How easy is that and how well does it work? I imagine it depends on the curve.

You'd likely need a USB sound adapter with the MiniDSP too. It is more flexible and easier to use though IMO.

The Behringer is aimed at the "pro" market so absolutely you can run XLR from the UMC-1 to the BFD and out on XLR to an XLR Rhytmik plate amp.
The BFD has TRS (easy to convert to RCA/Phono) and XLR in and out (and both can be used together). Apart from the pain of preparing the cables (the balanced MiniDSP uses bare wires into terminals rather than XLR), I think a balanced MinDSP would be better though.

I have used REW in the past with a BFD 1124P and a Rythmik F15 where multiple measurements could be used to generate a set of filter coefficients to plug into the BFD. I use my laptop, a usb soundcard, a galaxy CM-140 spl meter and a boom mic stand. I would like to use REW to take multiple measurements to set the EQ on the UMC-1. The best way I can figure out is to average the measurements and use manual eq filters using the generic eq to adjust the curve by hand. Anyone know the Q settings on the UMC-1 EQ for the main channels? I can manually adjust the EQ as I take measurements but this only is good for a single position. Anyone know if there is a way to add the UMC-1 to the supported set of equalizers in REW? Is code required or just updating some files? I don't see any hints on the REW forum but maybe I missed it.
