Hot. This thread grew quickly by the way! I saw it was 3 pages and assumed it was old news. Mark.

No worries Rachel. I think we got that sense. Thanks for posting this late in the evening. No problem. I also just realized that I never said it would be out in a few weeks on this thread, or anywhere for that matter.. so apparently I'm just going crazy! Ah, the power of the inmates and their ability to plant false ideas in my head. That's what I get for hanging out on the forum all day..

Does anyone have any information regarding the phono stage on the XSP-1? Is it the same phono stage that is in the USP-1? Better? Any help would be appreciated.

At Emofest, Lonnie said that the XSP-1 would have an "enhanced" phono stage with adjustable impedance to allow the user to optimize performance with your selected cartridge. Vinyl lovers are going to love this head stage.

Dang!...... If only it had included multi-channel audio processing. Just can't live without that. So, I can only hope that the XMC-1 will have a comparable phono stage.

If you need something on par with the phono stage in the XSP-1 you are going to be disappointed.

then it wouldn't be a pre-amp now would it... Sure! It just would not be a STEREO PRE-AMP, but a Multi-channel pre-amp. In my book, anything used to send line level signal to a power amp, is performing the function of a pre-amp. jamrock

If you need something on par with the phono stage in the XSP-1 you are going to be disappointed. You're right. However, at 09:20 of the podcast, Dan stated that they are still going to offer a separate phono module as was originally intended. Therefore, if I'm not happy with the MM input that comes with the XMC-1, I feel pretty sure that the separate unit will likely to be on par with, or surpass that offered on the XSP-1. Its all good! ;D jamrock

You threw me when you said multi channel processing. I figured you were talking about digital processing.

I did say processing. My intent was multi-channel I/O with bm.

There is a substantial price difference between the XSP1 and the USP1. Is this due to the upgrades (i.e. - all the balanced options, enhanced phono technology, et cetera)? Is this the increase in prices we can expect to see due to the weight of the US dollar in the Chinese economy alluded to in the podcast?
Lastly, is the USP1 going away at some point, or will there be two products (U vs. X) like we see in the amplifier lines?

Do to the price difference, I'm thinking Emotiva will keep the USP-1 preamp in its inventory for it is a more affordable 2-channel offering.
Also, as a former Adcom guy, my gear now is ALL Emo.
Now, I contacted Adcom recently-- they are coming out with a new 2 channel preamp, tentatively January 2011.
The Adcom GFP- 815! : -- The 'G' stands for Great; the 'P' stands for Preamp; Not sure of the 'F' designation though....LOL
