I'll explain what happened folks 
So i got both plated machined ready for anodizing. I knew the original plate was made from extruded 6061 T6 aluminum and the new plate was MIC-6 aluminum.
6061 T6 aluminum is extruded thru a particular die. 1/2"x2" 3/8x2" or 3''x3" etc.. etc..... There are unlimited possibilities in sizes.
MIC-6 aluminum is made by casting the metal. Just imagine a cookie sheet. You would pour the molten aluminum on a giant sheet and let it cool. They usually come in 4x8 foot sheets and can be made up to 3" thick (sometimes thicker but can be very expensive).
Both metals anodize a little different. They have to adjust the acid levels, concentration of dyes and voltage. Many variables but the platers should know!!
So i told my shipping manager to get my plates black anodized. Which is about .0001/.00005 thick. That's 30 to 60 times thinner than a human hair. I mentioned that they were not the same material type.
They went out and a few days later they came back. I said WTF!!!! You'll see
If you have a grain of common sense you can see they do not match.
What made me mad was i paid $70 to get them anodized.
I asked the shipping guy what happened. He told me "they messed up" lol.
So i sandblasted the anodizing off. Didn't want to spend more money to maybe get bad anodizing again.
Sprayed it black
Then sanded the top of the letters off and put a coat of clear on.
After all this. I was not happy with what i had. It looked tacky.
