Congrats on the purchase.
The first thing that caught my attention when I looked at the photos was S/N 0474 - I still cant get over the fact that Emo generate random S/N on the XPA-1. IMHO, it loses the "prestige" factor and it becomes a novelty really.
Mine are something like, 1001 and 883 - I'm seriously thinking of spraying this part black like I did with my trims.

Yes, it is kind of odd about the serial numbers. I think it is odd to have them on the front like that, too. Someone also said the number on the box doesn't even match the plate but I didn't check that part.

Congrats on a great buy and outstanding review. You have quite an attention to detail and a great way with words.
Heard buzzing and hissing at first with my XPA-1's. The buzzing became intermittent then disappeared forever after a few days. The hissing took longer to gradually dissipate. Not remember the time frame on the latter.
When firing the XPA-1's today (with nothing playing), can hear a slight hissing from the tweeters with my ear right next to them. At two feet away from the tweeters, I cannot hear the hissing at all. When music is playing, the hissing is inaudible even with my ears next to the speakers.
Hopefully after a short time, your amps will likewise become very quiet.

Shouldn't have cracks or hisses. My are dead, dead, dead silent.... as are mine. Welcome to the club, Rickie

So you don't hear any hiss at all, even with your ear right up next to the speaker? Nope. Not on my Mirage ;D
