UPS is responsible! ...Demand a $10,000 compensation (fair) for physical & emotional damage.

The speakers are headed back to the UPS store the seller used to ship from. He told me they're going to have an 'inspector' out, then go from there. But apparently the most I can get back is $500 which is the insurance amount. This is BS. I want the whole $650 I paid back. This feels like it's going to be a long drawn out thing. Ugh..

Quick update: The seller refunded $400. He said he will refund the rest when/if UPS approves the claim. My brain is hurting a little less now. I was seriously stressing over this. I feel for him too. Good guy!

Sounds like a great guy...dumb question here but i wonder if they will try and only cover one speaker since only one was damaged(well that we know of). Hope they don't try and split the $500 insurance coverage in half. Also who keeps the speakers?? UPS or the seller?? Ive never had to go through this so I'm just curious. What a great guy too have refunded you some money even thou it was not his fault..Sorry to say this but sounds like a lose lose situation..Sorry you had to go through this I read a couple of post here forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cspkr&1132080168&openflup&2&4#2

Copied this info from audiogon forum
I would consider advising the buyer to "make sure" (by any means necessary!!!!) that BOTH speakers are damaged. Otherwise they will probably only going to cover one even though that really doesn't solve the problem as speakers are sold in pairs.
the 1st thing you can expect is for ups to pull a fast one, they are going to send a truck to your buyers house to pick up the speakers to take them to an"inspection center" tell ups that you need onsite inspection & that you will not allow the speakers to be transported from site.
even though you tell ups most of the time they still try to pick up the item instead of sending an onsite inspector, once ups has the damaged speakers in their hands they will send them back to your doorstep without asking you.
the second thing you can expect is for the ups inspector to deny your claim on the grounds of improper packing no matter how they are packed"unwritten policy" but as long as you know the ups packing guidelines & followed them or better than thats easy to beat.
the third thing is that after you get an onsite inspection you will no longer be dealing with ups you will be dealing with their insurance carrier, ups does not insure their own shipping its outsourced, the insurance carrier will then send you some forms to fill out & request a damage repair estimate at that time your buyer will have to do a lot of legwork lugging the speakers to a dealer for a estimate.

After much deliberation, I just purchased some 6.2's for my HT. It was a close race between these and the 6.3's but absolute bang for buck and tight budget won. Emotiva is only 6 hours from me. Here's to hoping I get them by the weekend. Now to find some decent stands. Can't wait..

The cool thing is, and I sort of just realized this , is that if I decide later on I want to try the 6.3's as mains I can just use the 6.2's as surrounds and I'm good to go. I haven't ever had a true timbre matched surround setup. I always was using other brand/size speakers for surrounds and it never sounded quite right.

Erm-6.2's. Just arrived. No sound out of right channel? On hold waiting for tech support now.

Hmm. I switched speaker wire connections at the amps and the bottom amp that was driving the left channel is now driving the right. This rules out the speaker wire being bad. The top amp must be fried. How could this be? I just had these hooked up to my ELT's. I checked all connnections on the Erm's, posts are tight, jumpers in place, red to red, black to black, etc. No system changes made prior.
I also checked the switch on the back. Both amps are set to unbalanced input. In addition I turned off both amps and the umc from the back panel, waited and tried again. I did that twice.

I called Emotiva again and the tech told me to switch the rca on the back of the UPA-1's and if the sound came out of the opposite amp then it would be an issue further up stream. I did so, and the other speaker is now outputting sound. That's from the top amp that I thought was possibly fried. I can breathe a little easier. So umc-1 needs FW update perhaps..? Maybe the monoprice interconnect is bad?

Wes, did you try switching the interconnect with another (preferably known to be working) cable?

It was the cable Hemster. I went to remove from the back of the umc and noticed they came off too easily. Figured I'd plug them in again and make sure they were secure. Sure enough, sound was restored and man do these speakers sing. Love the way they look, feel, and sound. Built super solid. Black finish actually looks better in person than on the website. Very impressed!
