Can anyone give me any ideas on how to fix a screwed up firmware update. I think I shut down the installer prematurely and now the unit is stuck saying loading..... again and again on the from screen. I tried reloading the first part again with no luck. The unit will not power up all the way and I can't get it to load anything over again. When I start the unit it turns on and off two or three times and then it stays stuck on loading. Any one have any ideas on how to totally start over? HELP!!! Try turning the unit off with the switch on the back for several seconds. Then turn the switch back on. Don't touch the front switch. If the light on the front is amber, you should be able to start the process again. But don't turn the unit on with the front switch. Correct suggestion. Allow me plz to also add that capacitors could still feed some current to the chips' memory even with the back switch off. So I would also propose to unplug the power cable leave it there for a couple of minutes and replug it having the back switch still in the off position. Then turn it back on from the back only.

Thanks for the response geebo,
Dang! No luck though. It goes through the motions for 15-20 seconds telling the machine to turn on and off, then it sends reset commands, and ends up saying "no resonse!" . And yes the letter "p" is missing.

After you plug the UMC pwr cord and turn the back switch to ON are you saying the UMC automatically goes to a blue Light "on" instead of amber "stand-by" ? If the unit goes to amber you can repeat your install if it goes to blue from simply toggling the back panel switch you will probably have to send it in. Can you acknowledge what is happening when you just plug the pwr cord in and turn the back panel switch to on?

Nails all my speaker distances except for the left front. It thinks it's at 0.0ft and out of phase. It isn't. While my speaker distance is calculate correctly except for my sub (FW .19 more accurate than before with my fronts where I had a deviation of about 1-3 feet and even worse than before with my sub), I have the same behavior as you for the phase of the left front speaker. I'm not sure if I have to "correct" this or leave it as EmoQ has calculated it. We possibly have a similar room characteristic or speaker placement. While my front right speaker is freely located in the room, my left front is only 2 feet next to a side wall. This possibly causes the inverted phase captured by EmoQ. yeah, I'm not sure what the problem is (obviously.) My left is next to a sidewall, but so is my right.

It does go to amber "stand-by", when just the back switch is turned on, but it just doesn't want to take the software. It goes through the motions and then comes up with code 1, "noresonse!" I did unplug it from the was for several minutes and then retried it. Same response.

Okay, with the UMC in Standby mode and amber light on you need to redo the install as you had mentioned that you accidentally stopped the installer before you should have so you need to repeat steps 1-7 on page one. Please let us know.

Still no luck. The computer is communicating with the UMC, but the installer will not finish the flash install. I keep ending with the same message: "Address: 0 Send reset 0 command No resonse!
I've unplugged it a few times, and quit the installer and re-tried. Same response. Looking pretty grim.

This would allow me to see your desktop and verify your situation. I can send you an invite with an audio conference call. Please send me a PM with your email if you would like to do that and there is a 800 number for audio or I can call you. Let me know. regards, Reg

Just logged on for the first time today and saw your post. Good news on what the alternate install has done for you. I did mention this method was what I used last Monday.

Please note that the Alternate method is really only affecting the DSP File I recall suggesting at the time of the previous FW release that it would be really nice to add this "internal verification" step for the decoder part too. It would be useful I think.

I got it fixed! It was quite an easy update once sticknstones logged on my computer with me and pointed out that the dummy (me) had somehow downloaded an old firmware update and that's why it wouldn't load right. Once I got the right one and a proper link through the USB, it was quite simple using Sticknstones' directions. Thank you so much Reg for pulling me out of my own self induced bowel of despair. Thanks to all at the forum for your help! This truly is a fabulous group!!!
BTW, the firmware along with the EmoQ update is giving the system a much sharper, cleaner sound.....very happy so far.

Thanks everyone. I had fun chatting with Greg (Fishhead) and glad we got it going. Sometimes you just need that second pair of eyes watching. The only bad part was hearing him talk about his XPA-1's and USP-1 that were such an improvement that now I am thinking about it. Rut Roh ;D

One man, out of frustration, (Reg) despite his obvuious knowledge and skills, decided to call Emotiva. And now it is turning into a revolution of happiness for many. I vote Reg as the forum's MVP for 2011. Absolutely fabulous!

So, can anyone post up detailed instructions on updating the firmware? I am going to help out a friend so we're both new to it. I've read and watch the updating firmware instructions but it appears you guys have a little different way that seems to help get a clean install!
Thanks in advance.

I've read that and downloaded the files needed EXCEPT for the link for the Emotiva AVR upgrade program, the link is DEAD in the PDF. Where can I find the Emotiva AVR version V10605 upgrade application? When I click on the download Emotiva AVR upgrade application in the UMC1 section it downloads the version V10604?
