I dunno, but I'm sure more than a thousand dollars. __________________________ * I made a small mistake; this thread shouldn't be in 'The Green Room' section, but in the 'New Gear' section. ** I tried to fix it, by starting it over, but when I came back to delete this one, it was the other one that got deleted. *** So, now, we just need to transfer this thread in the New Gear section.

I'm more interested in LG's 55" OLED. However, it's going to be 8 grand, so it's not like I can afford it, but that is the future of TV's.

For a while, I've felt that size would be the focus for the next couple of years. Once everyone has 60" +, the transition to 4K will be easier for the manufacturers to push. Now, wait 2 years. If the majority of prospective buyers are at 65" +, their job get's even easier regarding generating profits with the pending 4K revolution. 4K doesn't make any sense unless you have a BIG display. Video wall anybody? min: 2014 - max: 2016. It's a comin'!

So when will we see AVRs, BDPs, and pre/pros that will support "Ultra def"? The new AVRs of the future will include a large flat panel screen Pauly. ;D * Onkyo/Integra AVRs and Pre/pros are already supporting 4K resolution. ** 4K is already available in cameras, and in Japan.

Video wall anybody? min: 2014 - max: 2016. It's a comin'! On your highlighted portion... You are correct for HT... I have not yet seen a Bluray 4k... However many folks are now doing well over that in video gaming as am I on my PC. I personally run 5760x1200 (Three screens running 1920x1200 from a single source creating the 5760x1200 res) and LOVE it... (A lot of info here... widescreengamingforum.com/) We can go even bigger with resolutions if one would like... Depending on the response time for gray to gray, I would not be surprised to see the future Play stations and Xbox's to have some kind of adaptability to this or at least double 1080p resolutions... But I am guessing on that. It just seems like the next step as the permission to go 4k was made back in I think the 70's? So yeah, I totally agree with you... But technology is releasing faster and faster than just ten years ago. I would not be surprised to see a $5000 4k screen late next year...

But before we see this in the media software, like Blu-rays, and Satellite Cable HDTV; a lot of purple ink would have fall into Indian territories... And by then it would be time to upgrade to a new pre/pro anyway.

Oh yeah it does; or is it only with this year models? Let me confirm this... 5509 which we wont see here or the 80.3 Yeah, I deleted that post as it was useless because of fast replies in this thread. But most Onko/Integra 2011 pre/pros and receivers now have a new video chip with full 4K support. It is even included in the Onkyo TX-NR509 receiver! You can get that receiver for about 2 clams ($200)! I wonder why Onkyo/Integra is always ahead of the curve now, year in and year out from 2007 non-stop? * Just look at all the pre/pros that came out from them in the last five years! It is the only manufacturer who releases a new pre/pro each and every year! ...And with all the latest features! Anthem doesn't do that, Denon doesn't do that, Marantz doesn't do that, Pioneer doesn't even make pre/pros, Yamaha neither; and so all other manufacturers... Why is it that Onkyo/Integra is implementing the very best audio/video technological advancements, and by paying the specialized audio/video pros, in order to get their best logos on their products? They must be into something good, because to me that's what only makes real sense. Same with Oppo. ...And you can get those big bad boys for less money than anyone else! Emo amps too. ** That's a lot of " Os". ...Onky o, Opp o, and Em o.

My 30" monitor, at 2560x1600, has 4.1 million pixels...
Once you get above 50", into the 60s, 65s, and especially 84s, stretching 1080 lines across such a huge gap isn't that impressive.
How about something like 2560x1600 as a nice intermediate step on the way to 4k?

Dunno, not an expert; I just go from what I read.
By the way, Sony and JVC have already released 4K front projectors. And more are to come soon... Epson, Panasonic, Digital Projection, ...
