I think there are a lot of folks excited about the subs. I have a preorder in for them myself. However Emotiva has been very tight lipped about their upcoming products and there isn't much to discuss. At this point we only have the details posted on the news page. In the VIP lounge Dann has stated that until they are closer to launch Emotiva will not release anymore info. Believe me I want pics, specs, the whole deal but for the moment it looks to be out of sight.

cool.... patience was never one of my virtues - but guess I don't have a choice in this case! I will soon be an official member of the Emo family - I just ordered an XPA-2 today. So soon I'll be able to head over to the VIP room and play with the other kids. That should give me something to keep me occupied for a bit. share anything you can Dann.... us dogs need a bone from time to time - just to keep our attention.

We had a visitor in the office today, and Big Dan was showing him some new toys...when he talked about the subs, he said: "We could have had them out long ago, but they just weren't special enough. There are a lot of subs out there, and we wanted to do something exceptional." And that's the deal...when you see what these babies can do, you'll look to the nearest person and ask to be held. Hopefully, it will be someone appropriate...but, you never know.

Dann, is there an ETA on the next webcast? Or will Lonnie's return from China be our update on all upcoming products?

You will feel as though life before the subs was meaningless. And slowly...ever so slowly...you will admit that this was the case...

Dann if you can kick the crap out of my Rel Strata IIIs in the music category for $999 than more power to you guys. I am on the list and looking forward to hearing the subs. Heck you may end up with another order from my father if he likes them as well. He is currently using Carver Dominator 10s for just home theater. My little Magnepans need help from 80hz down so a sub is important for both music and movies. I am primarily concerned with music by far.

I can't say how they'll stack up to other brands/models...all I can say is I've heard the prototypes...and they were TIGHT. Wow. The newer versions will be tighter, with a much more powerful amp, and a menu of settings/functions that would keep even the most anal, detail-oriented misfit happy for weeks...

Dann, I understand that you can't say how it stacks up to other products. However I am sure that Emotiva doesn't compare their gear to the Best Buy or Circuit City stuff. I am glad to hear that the subs are tight. The is precisely why I love the Rels is that they are able to keep up with my planars. If possible can you explain how the subs have been made tighter? New cabinet or driver or both? I appreciate your comments on these. Makes me happy that I am waiting for the subs and the UMC. Looking forward to info from the L-Train.

Well...keep in mind that I am the chimp here...I hear and pass along facts, not always feeling on top of the science of it all. The cabinets and woofers were redesigned, and the GUI sh** in a BIG way. The possibilites are crazy. I've always been one of those guys who kind of shrugged off subs because they were usually presented as this rumbling, faceless mush that didn't have much to do with the music at hand...out of balance and kind of silly... But this set? Man. Sooooo tight. It has to do with the sealed cabinets. No mush...no oozing goo...just tight, powerful, well balanced low end. If someone wants the MOST low end...or the most WALL SHAKING setup...I dont' know... But if you want something very balanced and VERY tight and musical...come get it.

I completely understand where you are coming from on this. I chose the Rels because they were fast and not mushy. I think the new stuff from Rel is rather mushy sounding unless it is in the ST series. Each of my Strata IIIs is a 10 inch driver in a sealed 40 liter enclosure with a nice pure class A amp.

Nothing is worse than random, sub frequency goo. Goes where it pleases...has nothing to do with the music or movie...just goo. Yes, it rattles your bones, but...is that all there is? Balance...ahhhhhh. Yes, grasshopper...you will learn.

Well Master I am sure I will turn to the darkside of the force with these subs. The Rel's will most likely end up on Audiogon like all the other gear you guys keep making me replace with your stuff. If you guys ever release a DVD player I will end up with all Emotiva products in my audio system. I don't think I will ever go with Emotiva speakers besides your subs though. I can never give up planar sound. It isn't for everyone but it is my cup of tea. But maybe you guys could make some planars one day. Though I doubt that will ever happen. I will be happy with my subs, processor, CD player, and amps until then.
