I have heard the 598s, but not really recently enough to give a full review of them. My feeling was that they were very much in the same family, just the 650s, with a good amp like the DC-1 just do everything better. I haven't listened to any headphones in the next category up, so thankfully I don't know what I'm missing. But im not feeling wanting in any way with the 650s.
I think this deal might have ended, but keep an eye out and jump on anything under $350.

I haven't listened to any headphones in the next category up, so thankfully I don't know what I'm missing. But im not feeling wanting in any way with the 650s. I think this deal might have ended, but keep an eye out and jump on anything under $350. "Anything"? I just saw a used one in the Sennheiser store for $349, but my sense is that it is probably better to wait for a new one priced under $350, because of possible future warranty matters etc. etc. So sorry this deal ended so quickly. Hopefully, new deals will come along sooner rather than later. |

Since our last exchange however, I've been reading up on headphone reviews, mostly on headfi.org, and, in some way, I wish I hadn't because I am getting so many conflicting ideas as to what I should get --and as to what cans do what best--that I am almost paralyzed with confusion: Some are suggesting the hd 600 is better, others say forget the Senns altogether and go with the Hifiman he-400, others, the Beyerdynamics DT990 600 ohms, others, the AKG Q 701, and I am sure the list can go on and on if I continue with the reading... I wish there were some place near me where I could go and listen to all of these cans and make my own choice, but because I live in a rather quiet rural area, that option is off the table... I simply want an upgrade over my current hd 598, which is not exactly a slouch, to listen to my music through the DC-1. I just wish things wouldn't get this complicated and agonizing with choosing... Still thanks for the posting again... |

I'd buy. I'm lacking that $1,500 part, but I'd take a chance on this before Sony or other costlier options. Hell I already own the Seiki 4K monitor, so clearly I'm an early adopter. The Hisense looks to be (on paper) a better display overall. |
