OK here we go, i got the USP-1 a couple of days ago, and the unit looks vary nice, so i got to plugging it in and when i turned it on, i moved up and down the volume control and it was vary quiet, also the center channel was some how on also, it would have a distorted sound, so i was like WTF is going on, i looked again and to me it looked like everything was OK, but then i switched the cords around and got it working, and man oh man, is this think sweet, words cannot describe how happy i am with the USP-1 every single thing you can imagine sounds way better, its like your in the recording studio with the artist, I'm so so happy with my purchase, now i wonder how the UMC-1 sounds, so i encourage any how loves music to get the USP-1, you will not be disappointed. Thanks for reading. ;D

Nice to see you are enjoying the USP-1. It is one amazing piece of equipment worth every penny and then some. It is one of the best bargains you will ever find in stereo sound. Enjoy.

I basically have no room for big speakers but I currently have orb audio speakers with a upa-500...I ordered a yulong d100 so I should be getting that in a week or two. I am also contemplating getting a squeezebox or just use my computer for music.

It will be like visiting your music collection all over again. I promise. Or you could wait for the XSP-1 as it is supposed to be even sweeter. But keep in mind it will cost approximately double the USP-1.

Have you hooked it up XDA-1->USP->XPA-3 direct? What do you think of the sound?

I think they will make a better dedicated stereo system than the orbs. Although, I have to admit that the orb audio sound very sweet.

If you are serious about getting the ERT-8.3 Tower speakers don't delay or you will be SOL. Cathy posted just a day or two ago that they are almost completely sold out and that there will be no more 8.3s after these are gone. I think she said that there were only 20 still in stock. Who knows how many have sold since her notification.
At this stage, if you can fit it in you budget, you might want to just jump on a pair now and worry about selling your current speakers at a later date. You might miss out if you wait too long.

Took delivery of my USP-1 a few days ago, as well. I was going to hold out for the XSP-1, but couldn't pass up the discount. Man oh man am I ever glad I did, too.
I have already been going gaga over the sound of my UPA-1/XDA-1 combo, but a friend told me that by adding the USP-1, the sound will really open up.
Well, he--nor any of the members on this site--wasn't lying. The already good sound I was experiencing got even better. The best way I can explain the difference is that music now sounds more refined... the quiet between passages has gotten quieter, and there seems to be an overall increase in fullness. Music simply has more presence and texture to it.
I wasn't naive to think that the addition of a dedicated preamp would not have made a difference, I just wasn't prepared for the amount of difference it did make. Truly a mind-blower, and a must for anyone still using just the XDA-1 as a preamp.
Thanks for sharing your comments Josh, and happy listening!

I'M glad your enjoying it also, but there are a few things i don't like, for instance, to use the HT By-Pass feature (Witch i use), you cannot have the speakers connected to Full Range, they have to be connected to the Hi/Low Pass outputs, it kind of sucks, so when i listen to music i have to switch the RCA cables to Full Range, and it might just be me, but i think my Sub woofer sounds worse when connected to the USP-1, like i said it could be me, also maybe i haven't found the right settings.
