+1 on the OmniMic recommendation. But, if you really believe that you can improve the sound by replacing your receiver, you can find either a secondhand Emotiva USP-1 or Parasound 2100 and a secondhand XDA-1 for around $500 or less. I added a 2100 and an XDA-1 and it has made a noticeable improvement in my system compared to listening to music on my Pioneer Elite receiver. Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, as I probably wanted to hear an improvement with the preamp and dac combo, but I really felt the difference in sound was worth the money.
