The 29-inch 21:9 monitor looks interesting. Yes, I was skeptical when Vizio started making that format (for TV), but it would reduce the need for side by side monitors. I guess I might not need all these (my 'geekstation' at work). Attachments:

Is it odd that I find that as exciting as speakers? ;D
I used to run tri-monitors on my desktop, but as the 2 sides slowly died I never replaced them. My trusty old Dell 2407 is still kicking though.

Yes, the four monitors at the back are all Dell - a pair of 3007's on the left and 2407's on the right, they just keep running, good monitors.

I'd been thinking about going up to a 27, but the 2407 won't die. It really has me spoiled to the :10 ratio though.

As much as I love the RGB LED display on my laptop, it still has the :9 ratio. Wish the :10 was an option.
What are you running those 30's with?

It's a SLED 11 box (SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop), the graphics card is an nVidia GT 9500 I think - dual monitor / dual channel DVI for the 2560 x 1600 on the 3007's. I think the GT 8500 is in the machine in the right but I could have that reversed, it's running XP. SLED 10 in the foreground, with an HP monitor. Not only does the SLED 11 box have double 30" monitors but the XGL is enabled so it has "the cube", meaning I can flip between 4 pairs of screens. This config is what I first mentioned above that the ATI had trouble with (these nVidia's aren't fast though, I don't really need that, just lots of real-estate). I really like the Dell 30's.

I nearly snagged a 30 when they came out, but I believe they were around $1200 or so new. I had sticker shock and backed down to the 24, and even that was pretty pricey. ;D
That card is doing pretty good then to be pushing all those pixels.

Yeah they are pricey, I'd like one for home. I watch eBay now and then and they're still $600 - $800 used.
