Hearing from the reports on the emofest, the xpa-1-L is certainly a surprise to me. 30 watts of class A power! Does anybody know how that compares xpa-1 in class A?

Oh wow!! This is honestly a heck of a good idea. The XPA-1 combines serious brute stregnth a good amount of class A power, while the XPA-1L provides stregnth though not as much but provides 3 times more class A than the xpa-1. That's really something! There's something for every audio enthusiast with a very nice comfortable trade-off between serious power and serious quality.

Also, there's some type of limiter built in such that if it gets running to hot in pure class A, it will automatically switch over to A/B until it cools off enough. Overall, it appears this is going to be a really nice amp. We didn't get to hear it, but it was on display. I have a photo of it w/the XPA-1 and XPR-1..a nice "little" lineup!

This is terrible news! I had fully intended on getting myself an XPA-2 for my mains (Martin Logan Vistas) or an XPA-3 for the mains & center (yet to be purchased ML Stage)
Now I am thinking A pair of XPA-1L's
I live in an apartment so a huge amount of volume/power is not needed but 'm thinking the XPA-1L's will make them sing!
Logically speaking, of course, I should go with the XPA-3 for now and get a pair of XPA-1L's after I pick out the surrounds and regulate the XPA-3 to center/surround duty, but where would the fun be in that?

Xpa-1L won't stack well then...I'm surprised about the 'XPA-1 has 10 class A watts via Lonnie' ... How come that never surfaced before

That's been out there a long time...I think the official quote was "about 10-15 watts Class A". Again, it's been out there 2-3 years from Lonnnie's quotes.

Well I never recall seeing in any specs or on the product page. No wonder they run warm when doing bugger all

Yeah, this is the first I've heard of the XPA-1's class A operation, and I followed the amp with interest when it was released.
Anyway, this is yet another idea that they've borrowed from other companies, and it's a good one.

I wonder if this class A rating is at 4 or 8 ohms?! Don't know if that makes a difference...

But the XPR-1 can do 3.5K watts at 2ohms (unofficially)

I think that there are a number of threads for political talk and members should resign their political commentaries, remarks, snipings to those threads. Just a thought.
The XPR-1L sounds like the only reason I would consider going 5/2 amps with my system. I have always advocated and plead for a powerful 7 channel amp. Now, if this technology could be implemented in a 7 channel amp, that would be pure joy.

I'll just post this again.
NOT LIKE THE UPA-1 BUT IN LIKE CHASSIS SIZE!!!!!
XPA-1L
250@8ohms 500@4ohms
First 30 watts in Class A, A-B the rest of the way.
Switch on back to go between Class A/A-B and A-B all the time.
UPA-1 like chassis.
True balanced
Amp will switch to A-B when amp gets to hot. Will return to normal when heat decreases.
