;D Me 2. Cool BUT I'm on the west coast. Anyone wanna bet that the delivery date is Monday. Not complaining mind you. I guess it's the price I pay for not living in Tennessee. Sorry Geebo. Actually I have an old friend that lives in Knoxville. Everything they ship, comes thru MY town first! I guess I better knock off the Tennessee cracks or I may find a dead bunny rabbit in my amp box or would that be a squirrel. ;D

KeithL, or anyone else whose has an Emotive amp.
Is the hole in the speaker terminal large enough to accept a 10 gauge speaker cable? Also are the terminals 1/4" in diameter or that one step larger. TIA

Not initially anyway. I normally use spades and I think I have some on hand. I'd like to order some raw speaker cable today and until I know the particulars of the speaker terminals, it is safest to just tin the ends and then decide if I want to bother with terminations or not.
One advantage to living in the Seattle area is that BlueJeans Cables get here in a couple days.

I like to use bananas myself. there are some that can take 10 AWG wire. I just found these using my google-fu. www.vetco.net/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1052I stopped using bare wire when I accidentally shorted two leads years ago. Amp kept going into protect and then I discovered the one single strand that was gently laying across the other post.

If anyone is interested in a "pure Class A" amplifier (newprometheus?), one can always purchase a Pass Labs XAxxx.5 amplifier.
200 watt mono, idles at 700 watts, pure A up to 400 watts (4 ohms) 160 watt mono, idles at 600 watts, pure A up to 320 watts (4 ohms) 100 watt mono, idles at 300 watts, pure A up to 200 watts (4 ohms) 60 watt mono, idles at 200 watts, pure A up to 120 watts (4 ohms)
But don't forget to stop at the bank(s). ;D
Russ
PS- I believe the now discontinued Pass Aleph amps, pure Class A and single ended, idled at even higher multiples of their maximum output power.

i like the nakamichi wave flex banans with the double screw..
the new wave flex design really gives much better contact that you can really feel during insertion how much tighter it is....
cheers

I wonder how much heat the XPA-1L generates in class A mode, idle and with mild listening. I'm sure its warm, but how warm? I own a Fluke infrared thermometer and will be measuring several points on the amplifier during various states, including the ones you listed. Would love to know how much power these draw from the wall in "normal" usage. I guess would need readings for music, movie played near reference, with the switch in both settings so 4 readings. Anyone got a KillaWatt meter or similar that has one of these amps coming? I own a Kill-A-Watt meter and a Furman precision volt/amp meter, so you bet I'll be checking the vital power stats of the 1L.

I have gotten my shipping notice and I live in Arkansas about half the time I get it next day, half second day depends on connections. I also have a kill-a-watt meter and IR temp meter. I am very interested how much wattage changes between high and low bias settings. I think I ordered about the same time Friday as Dark Ranger (6:39 PM CST) it was still listed on the second page of amps. I guess this will my St. Patty's Day surprise!

I have gotten my shipping notice and I live in Arkansas about half the time I get it next day, half second day depends on connections. So unless geebo stops by tomorrow and raids the Emotiva warehouse, I think you'll be the first one to get it. The rest of us live in Florida, Utah, or CA, which might as well be in Nepal according to the anticipation level. I also have a kill-a-watt meter and IR temp meter. I am very interested how much wattage changes between high and low bias settings. Cool beans. It will be good to have multiple folks do the readings. I, too, am curious about the power consumption deltas between high and low bias. LMAO!! That's awesome. ;D
