VERY nice Matt!!! That video was so good, I immediately wanted to get the WYWH immersion box set. ;D On a serious note, I am happy for you and your new XPA-1s, and will be looking forward to your next TT as well. I have been looking at TTs a bit myself lately and have ran across several mentions of the Rega arm you picked up. It's extremely highly regarded, from everywhere I saw it mentioned. I don't think you could have picked a better arm for this project, considering the universal praise of the venerable RB-300. Seriously, it's a bad mamma jamma! Perhaps I missed it, but what a your source player in that video? Also, was that copy of WYWH the regular CD edition, or was it a special edition of some sort? (such as MOFI, SACD, DVD-A, BD-A, import, etc.) Congrats on such a great setup Matt. -Dave

With one screw you can bring the arm up or down to bring more dynamics or smooth the sound out. Don't think i'll show the internals of the design though, since it might cause a stir if someone up there see's it. But it'll be awesome. Can't find a similar VTA adjuster out there ;D The CD is the special edition one. But just regular. Not a fancy SACD or anything, still great though. I used my Mac as the source. Ripped the CD to ALAC (lossless). Sounds great

Nice video Matt! Just an observation, it sounds to me that those two XPA-1's aren't sequential in serial number or is it the extra screw on the one XPA-1 that's throwing off the balance? ;D
On a serious note, will you be making faceplates or maybe some new trim for your XPA-1's?

Matt just watched the video. Awesome. I gotta get some 1's some day. They are on the long list of must haves. Curious, are you trying to build a better TT this time and did you learn from building the TT~1 what you would like to do differently and can you explain? And can't wait to see how it turns out and the handles for the 1's. You have a one of a kind talent and creative mind.

Ask Dan But there are so many styles of TT's to choose from. So this time around , i want to attack it from a different angle. My design will be a independent turntable. Being that the motor, platter/plinth and tonearm are independent from each other. Just sharing the rack it all sits on. This has it's own pros and cons but done right, it will take my vinyl listening to another level. A few things. The tonearm, specifically mine , needs to be out 222mm. Measured from the tonearm pivot point to the spindle post. But being the tonearm isn't in a fixed state it could potentially wonder out of the 222mm. Easy fix. I'll make a template to make sure it's in the right spot, then remove the template. Also the motor being independent, will reduce motor rumble into the signal greatly. I hope that this TT will have better performance but if it performs just as well as the TT~1, i will be happy

Your new design kinda reminds me of my first table, the Pro-Ject RPM 1.3. I know what you mean about motor rumble. I went through 3 motors and couldn't get a quiet one so the rep from Pro-Ject gave me my current table at no up charge. I did like it, but love my current one. And what cart are you going with this time?

VERY nice Matt!!! That video was so good, I immediately wanted to get the WYWH immersion box set. ;D Everyone should get the WYWH Immersion box set! And the DSOTM one too! The Blu-ray audio is fantastic, but you'd expect that from James Guthrie.

That is a great cart. Deep bottom end and great dynamics. Hoping by moving up the line to the MP-500, I'll get more of a treat. We'll see

Oh, I've never actually looked for them, although I bet they're good reading. Go to the forum (the most technical audio forum on the net) and put in some searches, you're bound to find them. But the tell is that mods bring up the performance quite a bit!
