Thanks! I currently have them bi-amped via my AVR. I'll likely reinstall the jumper bars to keep it simple. I get how bi amping makes a difference, but just don't understand the whole bi-wiring theory.... If your AVR sets up like mine does I don't think you can bi-amp using external amplifiers. That's because the signal at the 'surround/back pre-outs' (those amp channels used for internal bi-amping in the AVR) aren't output the same via the pre-out jacks. That's what Yamaha told me when I asked about it. Logically you'd think the surround/back pre-outs would output the same as the front L/R when the AVR set to bi-amp mode, but they say no...only works using the AVR's own internal amps.

Since you're already bi-amped, you already have 4 conductors run to each speaker and they're terminated for bi-wiring. I'd just use the wire and speakers the way they are, you just need to gang the wires in a single connector at the amp (bi-wiring doesn't hurt).

Mad Norseman - I thought of that as well. When I was considering the XPA-5 I was wondering if I could use the pre-outs for channels 6 and 7 to biamp. Thanks for clarifying.
AudioHTIT - when you gang the wires for bi-amping is it best just to twist bare wire together or should I get banana plugs and connect them that way?

I like bananas or spade lugs because it's easier to make and break connections when you're moving equipment around. If that's not important and the binding posts have holes large enough for 2 of whatever wire you're using, then you don't have to buy anything or worry about bananas pulling out. Good connectors or bare wire, both will work well. And in this case you mean bi-wiring right?

AudioHTIT - yes, I intend to bi-wire (not bi-amp)....I already have

the speaker wire in place.
