Well, not a bad movie.... I'll say 6.5 stars. But it's really "Alien" all over again with a similar plot, travel cryogenically frozen to a far away planet and go search for life, familiar sub plots and right down to the bad robot and animals that crawl down your throat that grow inside you.... well, you know the drill...
Ridley Scott directed it... (and Alien) :-)
A rental.... :-)

Saw it at the theaters Imax, and enjoyed the heck out it, I went without and little expatiation, and that all. There are few parts that make you think, now why would you did that, but you gotta remember its a movie, preconceived by someone other than destiny and that's how you gotta look at it....
Great flick

This is a very controversial film. If you're assuming it's Alien 5, you'll be disappointed. If you go looking for a movie set in the same "universe" and with no tie ins... it will be pretty good.

Didn't see this at the movies. I was looking for something to watch Wednesday night and downloaded it from Apple. I liked this movie a lot. Yes, it is a prequel to the first Alien movie, but it stands alone very well. Yes, similar plot in some regards, but the video is just breathtaking in some spots! One important note. This is not the theatrical cut that was shown in movie theaters. It is almost 30min shorter. The full version is only available on the 4 disc Blu-Ray set. This is a rip-off IMO! ========= I retract the comment on the run time. I got this info from a review on Amazon that now seems to have disappeared.

I've got the 2-disc version of Prometheus and it says it's 124 min. long (same as the theatrical release).

I'd have watched Prometheus this weekend except I have a feeling for me that this won't be a movie that is worthy of being in my library, so a rental for now. RedBox doesn't get this for renting for another 3 weeks so I'll be waiting until then.

Watched it yesterday with my wife. Held our interest very well. Sound track was very good and the visuals were great! Fills in a few of the gaps from the originals. So, the opening scene, why did the alien drink that stuff?

I thought it was an Excellent movie. A few unanswered passages, that's what bothers me about the movie why the hell do they leave stuff unanswered, I mean when David speaks to him you have absolutely no idea what he said. You can guess but until I searched the net for an explanation you have no idea. Why do that to your audience? None the less I really enjoyed it.

I'll watch the movie tomorrow and confirm.

I've got this one in my Netflix queue since I missed it at the theaters. Looking forward to it. Hopefully there are no aliens in it. Aliens give me nightmares and stuff.

I watched the DVD on Wednesday courtesy of Netflix. Spoiler alert: It turns out there were aliens in it, and they were not the friendly SquareBob SpongePants kind. ;D OK, seriously...it was better than I expected in some areas. Great CGI effects and decent sound quality. I'm sure the BD is better. The storyline was very interesting, but some of the characters were absolutely useless. Some cheesy lines and a lot of WTF moments, too. Overall, a good film that could have been great. I was really rooting for this one. EDIT: I forgot to say that I enjoyed the performances of both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. They stole the show IMO.

I enjoyed it so much I bought it, I can't imagine any Alien fan wouldn't want to see this. Ridley Scott still has it! And more will be explained in the next 2 movies...that's right, 2 more coming our way and I say the more the merrier as long as Ridley is involved(which he's confirmed that he is, but the writers are changing).
