I've got my XPA-3 since last july now I think, and ever since I have it when I turn it on it makes a hissing noise on one channel as the channels are checked. Or whatever it does when it turns on and the LEDs go on one at a time.
Every channel works just fine, so I guess it's alright, just wondering if it's normal.

Have you tried switching around the interconnects to see if the hiss follows one of them or stays on the same channel? This would help you figure out if it is the amp that is causing the hiss or another piece of gear earlier in the chain.

I will try that tomorrow. Almost 11pm here, so time to sleep in a bit.
Will hook up one input per try and see hoe it reacts.

I have an XPA5 that does the same thing. It settles once the self test has finished.

I have a XPA-3, XPA-2, XPA-5, UPA-1, UPA-2 and RPA-2 and I've never noticed any of them hissing at start-up. It may be something some units randomly do but I've never had that issue. Call Emo just to verify and ease your mind.

i did, have to wait till monday, i have a thread started a few down from this. But on a side note, my midrange on my paradigm studio 60v4 is distorting all the time now, and it was on the 4th channel. So now im curious if the 4th channel did this to my driver or just a very big fluke, because now its $129 to replace the driver. Not to happy at the moment.

un hook every single interconnect. Then see if it does anything. If nothing is connected it has to be in the amp.

My xpa-5 has done that since new. I put it down to the supply rails stabilising as it works fine.

Some of these Emo amps 'hiss' at you guys, huh? Maybe there's something about you two that your amps find objectionable!? ;D

lol, no no. Talked to a tech, and hes sending me a new channel 4 to replace it.
Ive heard from many ppl that theirs are all quiet going through that test, so that tells me that this isnt correct
