This sounds like exactly what I'd want to add to my system. Can't wait for it....

The XMC-1 will not have a phono stage - as in no head amp for low output MC's. The XPS-1 is intended as a device that allows one with a LOMC to hook it up and run it through an XMC-1 (or other pre amp that has not built-in head amp).
As to where it fits it, we can't quite say as we've not seen much detail on it. But, I would say it is likely to be ~equal the head amp in the XSP-1 given the features we know are in the XSP-1's and appear to also be on the XPS-1's. And, each of these have more adjustability than the USP-1's (which has none...)...so I would say the X's each would be better than the U's.

Thanks Mark that explains a lot. I forgot that the XMC-1 won't have a phono stage. I believe it did in the beginning, but now I remember it going away. Good info either way!

Will this have a seperate power supply outside the phone preamp or is it going to include the PS inside the phono preamp?

I assume it's got a power cord that plugs into it. You can see from the size, it's tiny on its own. (That's George, geebo, holding it) We didn't look around to see where a line plugs in, but it's not on the face in the above photo or the end in the below photo: Mark

Hmm... seems like it could be battery powered. That is pretty awesome, actually.

I'm guessing it will be an external do power supply. It says power beside the R&L output.

Oh, it's easy to make it battery powered. Just find out the voltage the PS provides, put the right batteries together and plug it into the unit.

Yeah, but that requires effort. I'd rather someone else do it for me.

I can't see it being battery powered, I would rather it not be as I have enough things to replace batteries in and/or charge lol.

Actually, they said it is available for order now if you call in. Website update might be a few days yet. So anyone that can't wait to get one should call Emotiva directly.

Andrew, is a straight analog preamp, or does it have a/d capability?
Thanks,
